Brooks is nowhere near one of their better recruiters and he was awful in recruiting at Tennessee in his final years. The only reason it seems he's doing "good" from UT's perspective is because he is the one recruiting Pagan.

Their best recruiters on their staff are Dabo, Napier, Steele, Harbison and Brad Scott. And all of them are good recruiters. I'll give Dabo credit for one thing, he did assemble a hell of a recruiting staff. His best 5 recruiters are as good as anywhere. Steele has always been an Elite recruiter and Brad Scott is doing a hell of a job this year for them in Florida. The problem with them appears to be coaching.
Pretty much what everyone who follows recruiting says All Star recruiting staff/Crap house coaching.

It probably helps that they're located in upstate SC, which has excellent HS football talent.

If Clemson was gonna make a coaching change, wouldn't they have done it already? Anybody still expect them to?

That is old news from last spring. People with political aims trying to interfere where they shouldn't. They even tried to contact Lattimore and some of the incoming 2010 class. Lattimore basically said it had nothing to do with him. The point later became moot when the African American won a permanent seat.

Clemson insiders says Dabo has one more year to right the ship. Remember, they are paying two ex-head coaches already.

Yes, Clemson recruit Kenneth Page could have some explaining to do. According to the site Brahsome, Page posted this image on his MySpace page and "it came down about as quickly as it went up." Unfortunately for Page, somebody grabbed it during those few precious moments.

Page, an offensive guard from A.C. Flora High in Columbia, S.C., was graded a four-star recruit by Rivals. He picked the Tigers over North Carolina, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Tennessee. Golly gee, wonder why? As Brahsome points out, those are "straight-from-the-bank $20 bills."

There was the usual B.S. "news" conference on Jan. 25 when Page selected Clemson.

After examining the body of evidence, Brahsome writes that "it’s pretty hard to argue that it’s not in fact Kenneth in the photo with the bills. It’s entirely possible that Page just has a really rich grandmother who likes to hand out wrapped bills in plastic bags, but either way, you gotta figure Kenneth and Lil’ Bobby [Tommy Bowden] got some explaining to do."

Absolutely Nothing!

1. I have toured their "new" facilities...They are nice, BUT not even in the same league ie...no indoor facility. We will continue to widen that gap with our new digs.. :)

Clemson definitely has an indoor practice field, unless they've gotten rid of it since I was there for grad school two years ago.

...Ummm, no they don't. They had to cancel practice during fall camp b/c of lightning and no facility to go into...(I think :))

As an out-of-the-closet star gazer, why is Clemson doing so well in recruiting? They are now 5th on Rivals and doing extremely well. Dan Brooks seems to be locking up great relationships with a lot of solid players. Hearing his name quite a bit. Not much to look at, but he seems to be a great recruiter. We certainly did well while he was here. Never gave it much thought, but that guy seems to have been very under-appreciated here at UT. Hmmm.

appartenly what Clemson got that we don't is several four star recruits

A head start.

When we played them in the Peach bowl a few years ago they motivated their team by telling them how they were not highly touted players like Tennessee had but they were better players.

Yes, they have a big head start but it won't be long before our classes are top 5.

And by the way, remember who won that game?

they have a better high school base to recruit from. they are closer to Georgia than Tennessee. Closer to Florida.

distance is always the # 1 factor in recruiting.
