Here's a thought, don't be so extreme either way. Don't call for his head after a loss, and call him the G.O.A.T after a win.

I've said all year, after the season is over judge him, that would've been the smart thing, but too many people want to overreact to every situation.

Cuonzo deserves to keep the job if UT goes to the Big Dance. You just can't fire a Coach who leads his team to the NCAA's. The trouble will come next season after losing this season's playmakers.

Plenty slurp the Pearl...I know. But its weak to bring up Pearl as your comment and call me lame for expressing mine. But he's a funny guy. So I'll just laugh

My comment has merit. There are plenty on the board that want nothing but for Pearl to come back. Period. Not saying you're one of them, Shaun.

My "lame" comment was uncalled for. My bad.

He has to put a decent team on the court next year.

I thought he would do much better this year although there is still time to do damage in the tournaments. Nothing he does the rest of the year will tell me as much as what he trots out there next year. I am nervous with where we are headed.

I had been pro-cuonzo until the 2nd A&M loss which i then decided that firing him would be the best option. My thoughts were that he could not with the opponents left do enough to get back on my good side. He then led Tennessee in destroying our rival, auburn on the road on their senior night, and then a good Missouri team when it mattered most. He at least for now has pushed me back to the Pro-Cuonzo team. That could change with 2 quick losses in the SEC and NCAA tourneys but for those that are Anti-Cuonzo what must he do to get back on your good side?

Quit.

I would love for Cuonzo to be gone, i like the guy, but he's not a great coach, you see how much talent we have with mcrae and stokes, and it always takes them like 27 games into the season to get warmed up. That being said, if he makes it to the round of 32, that's probably enough to keep him for another year, expecting a sweet 16 is asking a lot considering how talented the current top 16 teams are, I don't see tennessee up to par with those teams quite yet. Round of 32 at least shows he's made progress and gives some hope, but I really don't think he's the longterm answer, but after the previous 2 years, round of 32 would be a big win.

I think hes safe now, i dont agree with it but i feel this is the perfect scenario for dave hart he has a reason to keep martin and can now ignore the pressure from bring back bruce. I believe the decision should be made on the future of the program and right now that doesnt appear to be bright. Just think if dooley would have won 7 games in his final season where would Tennessee football be now?

Dear lord, I wish Bradley, Texas Wesleyan, or Wisconsin-Whitewater would swoop in and hire BP tomorrow so this silliness could end.

Agree.

Best case for CCM and the future of UT bball, IMO, is for this team to finish strong and for him to be offered a job elsewhere.

Wake Forest needs to hire BP,he would be perfect for them.

You're absolutely right, and this would be an even better situation for the UT program, since coming back to the SEC would be a step down from an ACC school. If he goes to Bradley, he's never really off the #BBB idiots' radar. My bad, your good. :hi:

The guy from volquest made a good point on sports talk. His evaluation of talent regarding jucos and his bench players is not a good indication of the future with this guy. The streak is nice but they have been huge favorites in all those games.

CCM has a .600 winning pct and is not going anywhere whether we make the tourney or not. The only way I see him getting any sort of real chatter about being fired, is if the Vols lay an egg at the SEC tourney, miss the NCAA's and lay another egg at the NIT (which has happened before). I don't see that being the case this year.

If we lay an egg in the SECT and miss the NCAAT, then yes he deserves to go, though I doubt he will. What happens in the NIT is irrelevant, because nobody gives a flying leap about the NIT.

IMO, he needs to make the round of 32 for his job to be safe in the eyes of Hart. But as for me, I would be satisified if he made the sweet sixteen.

I'd like a tourney win.

I can't fire him after making the tourney. Especially if he can beat Arkansas and get a decent seed in the NCAAT.

Do something special. Win the SEC tournament. Something no one else has been able to do. We are going out of the big dance early if we make it. So do something your predecessors haven't been able to do and you stay.
