What happened to Tennessee Jed?

Because it's been replaced by the timeless classic "Thrift Shop." How hard is that to understand?

Goodness I hate that rap crap, or whatever it is. I miss the days when music had meaning.

I'm white, which makes my raps not tight.

Oh, I dunno. Enimen and Vanilla Ice were sort of nice. If you like that sort of thing. Personally, I don't care rap myself. Violence, woman hating, dope idolizing and so forth just perpetuate, even lend all too eagerly desired justification for preconceived stereotyping and hatreds.

Tennessee, Tennessee,
Aint no place I'd rather be,
Baby won't you carry meee,
Back to Tennessee!

It seems like my thread has been derailed...
This song used to be played at UT games and has a catchy chorus that Vol fans knew. I want it played at UT games again!

No kidding, my kids love the lyrics.

"I ran into Charlie Parks, he blacked my eye and kicked my dog, my dog turned to me and said, let's get back to Tennessee Jed."

Cracks them up every time. Great band live, recordings don't do them justice and glad I was able to catch them live before Jerry passed, didn't make it by much.

It's catchy and all that, even funny. But the lyrics seem to make Jed out to be a homesick wimp. I seem to vaguely remember either this song or another one about a Tennessee guy who went to Alaska. Fell on hard times and wanted to return home. Can't seem to find it,though so maybe this was it.

Great song.. I was at first bonaroo .. Phil and weir played it Sunday at noon on a perfectly sunny day. Beach balls and babes bouncing everywhere rapping up a strong weekend of partying. One of my favorite concert moments of all time

Was there (and every one since) Not a fan, but those guys sounded good though.
