What happened to the revolution?

Good thing Obama didn't behave like an arrogant partisan after his election victory.

Heard a commentator last night remark -- and this I think is true: the GOP took back the House and enough of the Senate to assert some meaningful control. They won 8 governorships and 680 state legislative seats. That was 6 weeks ago and NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT IT. Its all about how Obama is getting his way on everything.
Stop pretending that there is any difference in the numbers in Congress today vs. pre-election day. The Democrats could have done most of this months ago but were trying to save a sinking ship and didn't want to give Republicans any wedge issues.

There will be plenty to talk about in a couple of weeks when the people elected 6 weeks ago actually take office.

Exactly.

And look at the whopping size of the victories. Inevitable tax outcome, inevitable social engineering in the military and a bunch of gibberish.

Oh I get it.
It was politicians making a political move to keep from possibly losing more seats.

Can't believe they would do such a thing.

Obama forges a compromise on taxes and unemployment. And it passes.

Obama brings START to the Senate. And it passes.

Obama endorses ending DADT. And it passes.

Obama seeks funding for first responders in NY. And it passes.

All after the supposed tsunami of anti-Obama voting just 6 weeks ago.

LOL right now @ Mitch McConnell. I'd say he's given every indication he won't be a very strong leader for the GOP next session.

You do understand that the people that just got elected have not taken their seats yet?
This is a bush league thread on your part.

I think when it came down to the line, a fraction of both parties decided to do the right things, at least enough of them. The tax cuts, START, and DADT all needed to be done. I would say $4.2 Billion over 10 years is acceptable for the 9/11 bill as well. Or at least for a politician it makes sense. I wouldn't want to open myself to those political ads the next time around.

I'm not sure what the "compromise" on taxes and unemployment were. Capitulation would be more accurate IMHO.

The rest are the classic "Identity Politics" feel-goodie votes which deflect from REAL politics - namely, his FCC giveaway undermining the Internet, and, of course, the above mentioned capitulation.

Real politics = class politics, the rest is pure fluff. On the real fights, Obama has been dreadfully, despairingly disappointing.

Depends on your expectations. Many realized the dread, despair... was coming.

Getting things passed in this congress doesn't equate to victory and we'll see if these "victories" work out in the long run.
