Great area. I highly recommend venturing over to Las Olas area to walk around and grab a bite if you're not familiar with the area. Ft Lauderdale beach at Las Olas and A1A another great place to walk around.

I love Cuban sandwiches

An authentic one is narly good. Publix has a good imitation one.

Any dish I tried was out of bounds. On that trip, I don't think I ate anything besides Cuban. There was a dive joint in a strip plaza around the corner from the hospital we were doing work. Would pay like $6 for a plate that was enough for two meals. Plus I got addicted to that coffee and had to have that.

Ft. Lauderdale also alot cheaper to fly in to than MIA.

Anything Coral Gables / South Beach etc is super expensive. So is the eating out if you do Miracle Mile or South Beach etc so make sure y'all all save up. If you have the funds, the Loews high rise hotel in downtown Coral Gables is very nice and new.
