I saw us play our worst game of the season from an execution standpoint and we still only lost to the defending champs by 14 at their place. I kept thinking that Georgia was going to run away with it, but the Vols were never out of striking distance for most of the game. At least it felt that way to me. Hooker was uncharacteristically bad and all of his throws were too high, too low, or had too much mustard. Yes, a big part of that was Georgia playing great defense, but go back and look at the tape and you'll see that we left a whole lot of plays out there on the field. The team and coaches are definitely going to get a lot of value out of watching the film and learning from what went wrong and correcting those mistakes. I truly believe we can beat Georgia in a rematch.

You definitely have a point.
We looked terrible in most aspects of the game and UGA still slogged down in the 2nd half.

Same. On a neutral field. We know how they will defend us now. CJH can counter their scheme. HH will not have two bd games against them.

I saw great defense on our part that kept us in game and gave our offense chance after chance. However, our offense could not execute. To be fair, some of that was just on them playing great defense and some of that was us not having a good game.

Once it started raining Kirby went ultra conservative on offense and decided to be sure he didn't give us anything cheap, gambling that we couldn't score 21 points on their defense in the time allotted. I have little confidence we could stop them consistently if they left the playbook open.

I didn’t want a rematch with Alabama. I do want one with Georgia. Think we’ll get them next time if we get a chance. Hooker is better than he was tonight.
And I'd also add that Stetson Bennett isn't usually as good as he played today.

I agree. Felt like they could've thrown for 450 yards if they wanted.

I sort of agree with you about the 14. But Georgias last drives I think stopped trying to actually score and was more concerned of milking clock. I think they could have separated a little more as we hadn't shown we could stop them.

Here is they key thing to consider:
From Volnation message boards
"As poorly as we’ve played….all the mistakes….as good as Georgia is….this f-ing game is 27-27 except for two wide open overthrows."
If we hit on those throws it is 27-27

Our WRs could not get separation from their defensive backs. Hooker didn't have enough time to throw as his drop back isn't very deep either. Overall a good Team effort in a very hostile environment yet a disappointing outcome.

Georgia put pressure on Hooker and that was all it took; all he was seeing was Georgia defense about to get him.

Kirby took the air outta the ball. He felt his defense had it in order. They’d scored more if they needed to. Tennessee would have to play an A game to beat them. Played a D game today

Hooker has had accuracy problems all season. The volume of offensive plays have just been so high that he’s been able to make up for some of it. We just haven’t played a defense as good as Georgia’s that made it to where each throw was so important
