Get ready to have lots of fuel to flame me for a good while:

But I don't care.. I am going to put it out there anyway.

I say you go out and Find a true Tennessee guy, The type that would rather get hit by a truck then see the vols lose another game. Maybe he has never been a HC or even a Coord.

Then you name Phil Fulmer the Interim Coach, Let him teach this new coach everything that it means to be a vol, the tricks of the trade, all of his connections etc. Over like a 2 year span. Phil could teach him everything he knows, and the new guy can bring in some more modern ideas and so on..

Then we give Phil a promotion to AD, and let the new guy take over as HC.

I dont care what any one says.. CPF knows how to win, He built the winning tradition that everyone around here expects. That we should win the game just because we walk out on the Field in orange and white.

I truly believe that the last 4 seasons have been punishment for how the university and the fans treated him at the end.

To Fire a HoF coach for 2 bad seasons, separated by a SEC championship appearance borders on criminal actions.

If we could just set things right, we could climb our way back to the top. If we cant. Then there is going to be a lot more pain over the next few years as we continue our downward spiral.

Anyway thanks to those who actually read it, and share your thoughts.

To the rest of you flame away and start up the Fulmer BS comments and jokes.

I read your first two paragraphs and then quit.

I am a true UT guy. I'm an alum. I was born and raised in TN. I'd give my all to see that we never lose another game. I am completely unqualified, but I think I might be your man.

I guess the university treated him really bad by giving him $5 million in severance pay - if I ever get fired I hope my employer does the same for me...

Right - criminal.

I would rather have FHCDD step in as AD than FHCPF.

Has anyone contacted the agent for Gen. Neyland's ghost? I bet he'd do a great job. TN guy.

Phil would not be a interim coach, he wants to be the coach. BTW, he would win again. He has been off and I believe he has the fire again. I watched his third season when they beat Bama, compare that to Dooley. And some people actually thought Dooley was better then Fulmer on this site. This site is filled with idiots.

UT should be drawing more support from its own like Peyton Manning. Peyton warned five years ago that firing Fulmer was a mistake. Now he likes Gruden and it seems UT snubs those opinions.

And yes, I believe Gruden does have genuine interest and the assistant coaches salaries is the hang up. Gruden has already spoke with assistants. UT has freed up too much money to be going for anyone other than Gruden.

Ah yes, more Fulmerness. What you don't realize is Fulmer was past his time. He won on talent for a while, didn't do well without Cutcliffe and wouldn't without Chavis, and I think coaching as of late was lacking. NOT dogging the man or what he did for the university I'm simply justifying the firing (altho he should have been given 1 more year [tho many will argue they backed into the champ game]

You got some serious bad judgement. I have followed the vols since 1956 and I would just be sick if something like that happened. Phil was a winning coach when he was up against dumb coaches but once the smart ones came in, he could not compete. Phil is not all that smart.

Ask Bill Stewart how that type of situation worked for him at West Virginia.
