On the bright side, maybe we can finally all agree that the "insiders" on this board that have been saying "done deal" are ****ing retarded

I think the insiders have proven their worth. I'd like to put a dollar value on it but it just doesn't come up to a dollar.

Phil would not be a interim coach, he wants to be the coach. BTW, he would win again. He has been off and I believe he has the fire again. I watched his third season when they beat Bama, compare that to Dooley. And some people actually thought Dooley was better then Fulmer on this site. This site is filled with idoits.
Welcome to the board. :hi:

I guess the university treated him really bad by giving him $5 million in severance pay - if I ever get fired I hope my employer does the same for me...

That $5 million was a contractual obligation to the coach as it is with just about every other coach in the NCAA. The U. of Tennessee was not giving him that money out of the kindness of their heart. I reckon the tears that the man shed on his final press conf. were tears of joy on how much bank he was going to make, not the fact that he was being forcibly removed from coaching the team he loved. Money is all that matters...right?

I read your first two paragraphs and then quit.

I am a true UT guy. I'm an alum. I was born and raised in TN. I'd give my all to see that we never lose another game. I am completely unqualified, but I think I might be your man.

Put my name in the hat too. I will work work for $200K a year with a $5M buyout.

Get ready to have lots of fuel to flame me for a good while:

But I don't care.. I am going to put it out there anyway.

I say you go out and Find a true Tennessee guy, The type that would rather get hit by a truck then see the vols lose another game. Maybe he has never been a HC or even a Coord.

Then you name Phil Fulmer the Interim Coach, Let him teach this new coach everything that it means to be a vol, the tricks of the trade, all of his connections etc. Over like a 2 year span. Phil could teach him everything he knows, and the new guy can bring in some more modern ideas and so on..

Then we give Phil a promotion to AD, and let the new guy take over as HC.

I dont care what any one says.. CPF knows how to win, He built the winning tradition that everyone around here expects. That we should win the game just because we walk out on the Field in orange and white.

I truly believe that the last 4 seasons have been punishment for how the university and the fans treated him at the end.

To Fire a HoF coach for 2 bad seasons, separated by a SEC championship appearance borders on criminal actions.

If we could just set things right, we could climb our way back to the top. If we cant. Then there is going to be a lot more pain over the next few years as we continue our downward spiral.

Anyway thanks to those who actually read it, and share your thoughts.

To the rest of you flame away and start up the Fulmer BS comments and jokes.

Lets dig up General Neyland. He did a pretty gppd job for us. Oh, I forgot, he was a West Point guy. We lost out again. The most qualified is The Chief and he has stated before he does not want to be a HC and I do not want anyone who has not been a HC. Nice dream but is more like a nightmare.

some of the coaches we are talking about: namely Patterson and Peterson are good but made their "bones" in putrid conferences and may not get them anyway. Take another route, maybe, look at Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern he is in a big boy conference by comparison and holding his own. He has beaten 9-4 Nebraska/11-2 and 9-4 Iowa/10-3 Wisconsin and this year beat 8-4 vandy, played to a point loss to Nebraska and OT to Michigan. JMHO, PLEASE....he has a ten fold better resume than Dooley ever did. We should also I think at least look at these types of coaches as a fall back?
Northwestern has historically before him sucked 90% of the time.

Nick Saban is not an Alabama guy, Les Miles is not a Louisiana guy....this "we need a Tennessee guy" argument is just plain silly.

The fanbase has been split after firing CPF, now we can't decide what the players should be drinking on the sidelines. The wannabe fans that post on here with their jokes and smart mouth comments should take their punk butts down the road.. with you can't spell or you can't write BS, some of us didn't have the golden spoon handed down. Bottom line this fanbase will always be split. And I hope I did piss somebody off.

Fulmer was fired because he got lazy. Give me a head coach with a proven track record as a winner, and I will be happy.

Yeah, just like Urban Meyer, and we all know how terrible that turned out.

Another coach is coach Riley at Oregon state. He has done ten times what Mora jr at UCLA has done. Before him Oregon state had not won more than 4 games in a year since 1971 5-6 and last winning year 6-5 1970. He has done magic at Oregon state.

Patterson is in a big conference now and instead of 11-2/12-1/11-2/11-2. He is 7-4 and will likely lose to Oklahoma to go 7-5 ding ding winner!!!!! And for gods sake quit vomiting up pope Meyers as the example of small going to big and winning. A lot more have flunked out. The coach at Oregon state plays their "Akron" today in Nichols state they will win be 9-3 and inside the top fifteen. He can win there with no tradition/facilities and small ad funds he can win here.

Welcome to VN Phil. Maybe you could bring in Clawson and train him how to win. Maybe you could bring Chief back and train him how to defend 3rd and long or protect an end of game lead. Maybe you can bring Hammy back so you can tar and feather him. Great to hear from you Phil, in any event.
