What If Scenario?

What ifs make are pretty dumb. I would stick to what were.
Don't know if I'd call it dumb, since it's the off season, and what else is there to talk about that hasn't already been talked to death.

What it does do however, is set people up for gigantic disappointment because it's so unrealistic.

Counting on players who are barely in High School turning out to be D1 material, Nine people on the bench to keep happy given what the transfer trends are these days. Low # of projected losses, given recent performance with DD, cedes, and Nared soon gone. Disregarding what the competition will be doing to develop. Etc, etc, etc. But, hey, it's the off season, so go at it.

I also have my doubts about Holly but sometimes just having the right assistants (with the team talent) could help you get over the hump. Dawn and SC probably wouldn't have won it all if it wasn't for Melanie Balcomb and her ability to convince Dawn to run the offense through Kaela and Gray as oppose to force feeding it inside to Wilson.

The issue is will Holly recognize the weaknesses of her staff and replace them or add on a coach. The combination of players you listed, says final four, however, their are a lot of thinks to consider and it starts with the coaching. In today's environment you also have to figure in the possibility of players transferring for greener pastures. With the type of talent you have put together, it is enough for Holly to have winning seasons and make it to the elite 8. If that is the case, Holly is at the helm for several more years. I don't think it will matter if she goes to the final four or win a national championship.

Elite Eight is "a step" for a team and org like the Lady VOls...Not a destination

I agree Coach, especially with the talent mentioned in this post. It is a travesty if next year, we fail to challenge South Carolina for the SEC title, in fact win the title outright. Next year is a final four team, if we fall short, it is a good chance that this coaching staff, as is, will never get us there. I hope that the new AD judges Holly on talent and results, just like any AD of a top program would do. With the talent Holly has next year, it is time to produce or get off the pot.

They should get at a minimum to the SEC title game next year. I can't imagine a scenario where they don't. If they get there they would likely win it... Isn't it suppose to be in South Carolina though next year? So assuming SC also gets there that could give SC a slight advantage. I cringe even talking about a tourney title game at this point but I think getting there is more than fair in terms of expectations.

My expectation for next year is to concentrate on winning the first game. Once that is over, concentrate on winning the second game, repeat.

It's been 8 years of talk about final 4s and winning NCs, and every year it doesn't happen.

It seems this team is always looking ahead to the Notre Dames and equivalent but don't concentrate on winning the next game. If you always win the next game, you end up being National Champions.

I like this philosophy...one game at a time.

The SEC tourney will be in Nashville Tn next year. I expect a Sea of Vols fans, a Pond of Miss St fans , and an Ocean of Gamecock fans. Those three will vie for the championship next year. Not sure which team has the edge, Tenn has the best talent but SC and Miss St has better coaches. It should be a fun year next year.

That should be a river of Mississippi fans, to sweep them into the Gulf. Regarding the Gamecocks, everyone knows chickens don't swim. :)

Come on, weren't you just singing her praises about how she was a PLAYER? I doubt that a junior with as many HS accolades as Cooper has was worried about playing time because of some freshmen and sophomores, unless she was having trouble recovering from her knee injury. Especially with Alexa leaving, PG was basically Te'a's for the taking.

Nope... my OP was about us getting only one PLAYER a year was not good.... Tea was the only player for 2015.... but now we don't have one from 2015 and 2016. Plus I made note of her freshman year mistakes and she was hurt last year. So right when she could help.....she quits! Don't know why but does not matter
