What if we played Vanderbilt the last week of the season? We go to Kentucky last week and drag them and have a little bit of momentum going into the Vandy game with a bowl bid on the line? We'll get it that way next year! just a thought I had lol #GBO VFL since 1975!

I remember playing Kentucky next to last, and Vandy in the last game for many years. I don't know why or when it changed.

The game just changed a few seasons a go, man it would have been a bad taste left in our mouth if last week was the last game, just thinking its going to be 9 more months till we play a game, even a little bowl gives you something to talk about and have hope for a month.

Matthews just won another game for Vandy. He is the best receiver in the SEC. Glad to see him go.

Hopefully next year we won't be at 5 wins going into the Vandy game, and needing a win in order to be bowl eligible.

Seriously? Not sure what's worse. The play and coaching vs VU or the level to which the expectations of some fans have fallen. Truly pathetic.

I guess that's one accomplishment this staff has managed this year. They set the bar even lower than Dooley had.

So a staff that couldn't win 6 with this roster is going to win more with one much younger, just as thin, and no more athletic?

I am preparing myself for new lows.

Yeah, OP didn't say anything about Dooley, but let's bring him into the discussion anyway.

Just like every. other. thread.

Yep. We will be younger, but we will be much more athletic at almost every position.

No what's pathetic is fans like yourself. We have had 4 coaches in the past 5 years not to mention that this absolutely hurt the recruiting process with kids leaving and kicked off of team, but we should be winning 8-9 games against one of the toughest schedules ever in college football? Let's be real we are right where most realistic and sport smart fans expected us to be.

It changed about 12 years ago because Vanderbilt requested it. I don't know why Tennessee agreed to it but I'm thinking with the new alignments in the SDC we will start playing Vanderbilt last again starting next year

Ok. Prove that. The same recruiting svcs that say the current commits are great said many of these srs were

Watch their hudl film.

I don't have to prove a thing, because you wouldn't admit it either way.

You can't be serious. Butch took over a team that had no experience at QB, WR, No playmakers any where. No quality DBs for SEC play. No backups. What did you expect this team to do? Plus we lost to all top 10 or 15 teams before the Vandy game. This team is beat up. We did beat a top team in S Carolina did you forget that. Something Dooley never did and he had Bray, Patterson Rodgers and Hunter.

Incoming Freshman that produce are not the norm

One or two starting won't hurt a team

And before you say Winston and Manziel were Freshmen, they just happen to be exceptional talents

Dobbs' play is normally what you get from Freshmen

I'm not saying anything about how they'll produce on the field. I'm saying they'll be a lot more athletic.

Athleticism does not equate to production.

Why of course. It cant be poor coaching that caused 3 straight embarrassing blowouts plus a loss to vandy. It must be things that have nothing to do with what this staff did with the talent left to them, right?

thats what kept them from improving their players. Thats why no back ip qb was ready to play... what am i thinking? hoorah for the terrific coaching done this year!!!

. Yeah. About time someone called bs on that nonsense too. We now know UF is not and was not a top 10 team. Neither was UGA when they played UT. Vandy just needed lare magic to beat mighty WFU.

Sorry. But no. Losing to Vandy and setting historic lows for the program is NOT where the team should be with this roster. It is a loser mentality and not great fan ship that accepts such failure.

"Real"? Surreal is far more like it

IFs and BUTs were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas and have gone to a bowl, what if the season flipped and we played Vandy and Kentucky early in the season and gotten our 6 wins by halloween?????

those blowouts was the #1,#4,and #5 ranked teams in the nation. Two of them on the road and with a true freshman quarterback. I'm 100% VFL and have been since 1975 and I have watched GREAT Tennessee teams play and this last decade has been tough, but we still ain't a good team and it's not going to happen overnight.
