After all the crap that has been floating around this board (and others) I want to know what do you define as a "real" UT fan? :ninja:

Tricky question - I can only speak for myself.

I pull for the team; have an emotional attachment; celebrate victories and mourne losses; dislike the rivals.

I criticize what I think is wrong and praise what I think is right.

I've lived in many places and always find a way to follow the Vols.

Anyone who was a fan during Majors era of consistently finishing in the middle of the pack of the SEC has seen worse then this.

Don't worry yourself with it. It's a question that, when you think you have an answer, you'll only end up second guessing it. Let the players play, the doubters doubt, the bandwagoners jump, the media jump with 'em, and just watch some damn football.

stickin with the vols to the bitter end no matter if it 13-0 or 0-11! not critisizing for what you DONT know because nobody on here is an expert and the ones that know more then others certainly arent as gifted as the coaches. so people should stop trying to say they have the answer because only the team knows exactly whats going on!

As said above trick question, wanted some answers from some of the ones I consider to be fair weather fans. But I guess they really don't know the definition.

My own experience...

Moving to Florida and still flying my flags on my truck...game day or not...not going to lie...gets a little scary!...

I don't see how questioning obviously dubious decisions makes anyone less of a fan.

What a tough question. I know some of the people who are posting the most defeatist, anti-staff messages are "real" fans. They express their love for the Vols by getting angry with the people who they see as holding back the program. On the other side of the coin are the people who really do not care whether the Vols go 10-1 or 1-10. They are orange through and through and they derive pleasure from giving unwavering support to any and all aspects fo the team, even the ones that are not working very well. Also, I am not sure that an emotional investment is necessary to be a real fan. I get a little PO'd when the Vols loose but I am not going to let that affect my emotional or physical health or use it as an excuse to be a grouch to the people around me. I guess anyone who calls them self a Vol fan is a real fan.

If your love for the Orange and White has led you here to the Great VolNation, I figure you've got enough VolPride for me to call you a fan!

If, however, you just came here to bust somebody elses chops, we probably can do without you...

See? Do truer fans show unwavering support? Or do truer fans have enough passion for their team to get this upset when the water looks rough?

Being upset is one thing, but trashing players and coaches with every breath with nothing positive to say at all? And I'm not trying to pass judgement on anyone it just makes me wonder sometimes if some fans even think before they post. :ninja:

A true fan treats the team like his family. He loves them no matter what and defends them no matter what but if they mess up they will hear about it!

You can support your team till you die BUT you do not have to agree with play calling or coaching decisions. Loyalty is one thing and blind loyalty is another. We have problems and that is final. Accepting these problems does not make me a bigger fan.

The real test of a UT fan is to wake them up at 3 in the morning and they can quote by position the starting line-up on offense and defense.

At some point, supporting someone crosses the line into enabling them. That's where things go terribly wrong. At some point, continued support of dead weight is much worse than any problems caused by a few boos or angry posts.

I never bash players but I can't say the same about me bashing RS. I've laid off CPF this season, so far, but for a coach that makes $5500 a day, to me he's fair game.
