Newt is smart but damaged goods imo. Vp candidate maybe? Couldn't catch the debate tonight. Not that I cared a whole lot.

You didn't miss anything. Bachman and pawlenty faught all night. Newt made the fox guys look like idiots which isn't hard. Romney is obviously the most polished and you could tell he was just trying to not say anything that would knock him off his podium. I really just wanna see Paul Bachman newt Romney and Perry in a debate. And maybe take Bachman out of that, we'll see with who rick Perry resonates the most with.

Ron Paul is a bitter naive old man. He has no shot. I like Santorum the best but probably won't make it.

I didn't watch it. I think Newt, all around, might be the best option, but I just don't think he's electable.

I am getting the feeling VN was universally underwhelmed with the debate.

Not sure where you are getting that from, but it was actually one of the best debates I have ever seen. Great questions, awesome crowd, a lot of back and forth between the candidates, and some great one liners.

I agree. I thought the questions were solid and forced the candidates to confront their weaknesses.

I thought Newt won the debate. He is very intelligent and showcased why he should be a stronger candidate. I'm curious why some people think he's damaged goods. (career politician + adulterer? more?).

I'm just tired of Bachmann practically screaming her one line over and over again about making "Barack....Obama...a .... ONE... TERM.... PRESIDENT!!!"

The first time she did it I think it was effective and she got some applause. But now even the crowds are getting bored with it and even last night there was just a smattering of clapping for her when she said the line for the 10 billionth time this week.

We get it. Cool. Now find something else to say and quit being so gimmicky.

I'm guessing Daniels chose not to run to save his wife from embarrassing scrutiny. I was hoping he would jump in, too.

my guess as well, but honestly think it's not a negative for his campaign. it's not as though the story already isn't out there and in many ways he coudl be seen as a family man and a sympathetic figure.

Its mostly what you say here. His staff basically quit this year because he wouldn't devote the time necessary to campaigning.

I have a lot of respect for Newt's intelligence. In a sense he's too smart for his own good as he frequently goes a bit off the reservation.

you'd think a competent campaign strategist could've handled the issue, particularly for the reason you mentioned - the story is already out there. power of the poon must be strong with mrs. d.
