What Is Not To Love About Coach Bo Ryan

I thought it was a bad look on Ryan to complain about officiating after the game. A big part of the night, Wisconsin got a lot of the whistles. No Wisconsin players were ever in foul trouble but there were phantom calls on both Winslow and Okafor for one foul a piece. Also, the rent a player comment was ridiculous. Does anyone want to tell me he would not have taken Okafor or Winslow or Jones if they wanted to go to Wisconsin? Kaminsky please

The officials were bad on both sides, however its hard not to see that Duke was in the double bonus for almost 10 min of the 2nd half while Duke only had 5 fouls total with 1:30 to go. Also, every one of Okafors fouls looked legit to me and I would say the no charge call on Winslow to pick up his 4th foul argues against your points. I didnt care who won thats just how I saw the game. I will agree that he shouldn't have commented on it though.

Winslow had the spot and was ready to pass before the Wisconsin player even stepped into position to try and pick up the cgarge. I don't think it should've been called. The third Okafor foul was atrocious based on what the refs were allowing before and after. The "steals" that Wisconsin got during their mini run in the second half sure did involve a lot of shoving and slapping. It was bad both ways. You can't gripe about the foul differential in the second half and ignore the first half differential. K even laid out his plan going into the half that he was going to make Wisconsin start fouling and reel in his guys.

Totally disagree on the Winslow call. He basically ran over #13 (cant remember his name). The game wasn't called the same on both ends in the second half no matter how you slice it. Rewatch the game.

Also running over a player doesn't equal automatic charge.

I see that Duke definitely changed their strategy. I still disagree on the Winslow call. I just wonder what influence the discussion Coach K had with the refs had because the calls definitely changed after that. They also missed 2 big out of bounds that hada big impact on the game imo.

And as Reggie Miller stated and anyone with unbiased eyes could see, it went both ways. They missed calls that hurt Duke. But please, ignore those. And continue ignoring the glaring discrepancy the other way from the first half.

The officiating throughout the entire CBB season was miserable. The fact it happened in the biggest game of the year doesn't do anything more than add to a massive list of examples of poor officiating this year. Wisconsin settled for TONS of jump shots in that second half and their spotty defense allowed Duke more open looks than when they were hyper-focused early on, so they did it to themselves as well.

Bo's complaints about "physicality" or whatever are moronic too. B1G officials are terrified of calling anything major against Wisconsin because he freaks the hell out on them for the most minor calls. No one in the Big Ten likes him and I'm glad the rest of the world got to see him at his worst. Doesn't change the fact he's a great coach, though.

Go back and read my posts. I acknowledged it was bad for both sides at times. Im truly unbiased. I didnt care either way ( in fact my bracket had Duke as the winner). Wisconsin has historically been a low fouling team and this entire year (NCAA included) was no exception which tells me something. Can you cite any calls that were clearly missed that Wisconsin got in their favor?

I thought Winslow's second foul in the first half and Okafor's 3rd were both terrible. I agree the officials were bad all tournament and this game was no exception. The main point was it just comes off as sour grapes when he says that after the game. The foul trouble affected Duke more than Wisconsin.

Lol. Underrated post, especially at the end.

There were questionable fouls on Okafor and Winslow. There was also some rather noticeable shoves and slaps to get those backcourt steals Wisconsin took in their second half run.

Yeah I pretty much agree on all points

I understand that Coach Ryan's teams have a hideous graduation rate, one of the worst in all of college basketball
