What is our new AD up against?

Fulmer is a former coach. So, he understands, and nobody knows about getting railroaded better than Fulmer.

So, I don't see Fulmer, listening to cries of disgruntle, miserable fanatics.

As long as, the former Lady Vols support Holly, she will have my support. As long as the administration and recruits keep coming to the Lady Vols program, she will have my support but she lost my support of me attending games in Knoxville and dropping everything on earth to watch Lady Vols bball games. The team will have to earned that back, but I will still donate, because, I want her to win and have all the resources available to her to get it done.

I back Pat and roll with Holly.

Warlick doesn't know how to be head coach: Letters, March 22, 2018 Hmm !

First to the OP, sorry for your loss. As far as a replacement for Holly (whenever that time comes), I personally think the best approach would be to hire a male coach with absolutely no ties at all to Tennessee. He would never face any unfair comparisons to Summitt and it could be like a fresh start. I don't think he would have to worry about rebuilding the fan base. He would just need to win. The passion for women's basketball we'll be there.
It doesn't make a damn what or how you try to replace PAT, the comparison will always be there to rear its ugly head. (example UCLA- Wooden)

He is absolutely up against nothing. He is not going to replace a coach whom took her team to the NCAA tournament.

Willie, many have been replaced for much less.. (Martin comes to mind) and not just at UT, other schools as well.
I put Phil's situation as "damned if he does and damned if he doesn't". Trying to replace a legend (one that grows every year) is near impossible.

Taking a women’s basketball team from the university of Tennessee to the tournament is about as difficult as hitting water while falling out of a boat.

That will not be the case if she is allowed to continue as HC.....the field of 64 WILL be an accomplishment.....

I agree:" He is not going to replace a coach who took her team to the NCAA tournament."

However, if he is thinking about it (and he probably is, or should be) thinking about it, he won't get serious until after the finals are done.

I think its past time to make a coaching change and do see the LVs brand in serious decline. I cannot understand why they don't/won't update the offense and I see a disturbing lack of player development.

That said, this is an incredibly sad situation that no one can be enjoying. CHW is a hometown VFL who has spent her entire adult life at her alma mater. She's finally bequeathed the keys by her beloved, dying mentor. And she just can't quite get it done, a brutally public poster child for the Peter Principal. I do not envy Fulmer, who has a decades-long friendship with CHW, at all.

Best case scenario she steps aside as head coach but stays around, perhaps as recruiting guru. That seems to be her best thing.

As for what comes next, I'd be sad and nostalgic to move away from the Summit era altogether. However , I'm so over inexplicably bad offense and inexplicably bad losses that I'm sure I could put aside my grief for any coach who could tighten, modernize and make players better as Srs. that as Frosh. Most of all, make the LVs fun again rather than a struggle to watch.

Great post above. My feeling is Fulmer will give her an extension of the contract. At most, he should let the contract run till next season is over, but as some have posted, opposing coaches may use the lack of an extended contract as a recruiting tool.
