i cant follow the recruiting game as closely as i would like, but it seems that many of our targets are looking elsewhere, including a few of our committs. obviously, we are going to have a very solid class, especially at the much needed line postions, but our, or at least my expectations have been severely heightened(sp) over the past several months. is there a chance of a NSD let down, that could see our class fall out of the top 10? i know many discount class rankings, but i dont. perception is everything, to the current generation of high school recruits. last year at NSD, we hoped. this year, we expect... are we expecting too much?

A full D-Line.
A solid O-line.
Some under the radar stand outs.
Some big time players
And a shocker.. or 2!!

My expectations..

We could finish on the OL with Torrian Wilson, John Cullen and Chaz Green. That would be nationally the best O Line. It would also give us road graders to protect Bray so he can have the time in the pocket (as a not fleet footed QB) and to open up holes for an absurdly talented backfield.

If we do not get an RB that is a stud it is only because our depth is so great there. Next years RB class looks even better than this one also so we may do well to take no one if we miss on the elite backs.

We will finish with a very high quality DB and a high quality safety I think. Could be lots of different guys. I would love a Willie Mack Garza finish where that coach brought us in some top Texas Talent like Corey Nelson at LB and Ahmad Dixon.

We will take 2 more safeties I think.

DT will be a jumble. Lots of our current guys will not make it. We may end up with two 4 stars.

DE will be the best class I have ever seen at TN. We are still in it for Lemonier but we are also in it to steal Stripling from UGA. We already in Miller and Jacquez have a stud DE class.

We should finish top 5, but it will be hard to beat Texas and Alabama nationally with a 7-5 season. The only team with a record like ours who will be within 10 classes of ours rankings wise should be Auburn, with FSU having a good class as well.

I thought we would finish number 1, but a top 5 finish should not be disappointing. Even our lowest rated players like Fulton and Milton have the potential to be very special.

We need Line Backers. Got thin there this year. Some teams run the spread off. need some speed there.

Corey Nelson, and Christian Jones will fix that problem..

Unless they are playing for Texas and FSU respectively which looks likely.

I still think we will end up with a great class, but boy have there been some misses at LB. Thank God Michael Taylor is so good.

We will have a few National signing day surprises.... we will loose 1 or 2, but we will pick up some that no one is suspecting (ie B Brown 2009)... look for these recruiters to finish strong and close hard.... with what they did last year I am still expecting a top 3 finish

Care to elaborate on the UF silents? And if a top 3 class is "definite", why would you be disappointed with anything outside top 3?

I expect high school players from around the country, some as far as California, to come to Knoxville and play football.

I fully stand behind my prediction.

I agree with these statements, but who are these surprises this year? Who is it exactly that is going to make the rest of the SEC, or for that matter, the rest of the College Football world, drop their jaw when they put on a UT hat this year? We know its gonna happen, so give me your best guess.

Tn had a little hickup with hostessgate. I could see the same sort of thing happening with Fl or FSU. I could see an Elam or Luc coming our way. Or maybe a couple from GA or Aub (running backs).

I expect a class ranked 3 - 8, with 3 more likely than 8. I expect next year to be a run-away #1 unless the wheels come off on the field. IMO, that is when we see the true ability of this staff to recruit long-term.

it can definately happen, but do to the higher level of committs we have this year, i am more afraid of being on the opposite end of the Bryce, Nuke, Jackson deal, this year.
