What is the problem with A&M?

When your motto is “from the outside looking in, you can’t understand it and from the inside looking out, you can’t explain it” you’re a cult.

I think Texas A&M probably should have stayed in the Big Xll(this is just my opinion however). I think they probably would have competed better back over there than they have in the SEC. I think they will always be a middle of the pack team in the SEC.

I concur wholeheartedly.

Seriously though, I see A&M getting squirrely once Texas actually starts playing-especially if Texas is decent. When I say A&M people cannot stand to lose to Texas I mean it. Honestly, that is the only thing about either school I really respect-how bad they hate each other

Texas beats them a few times in a row, I could fully see them doing something crazy. Their psyche just cannot withstand losing to Texas. It's different than Alabama/Auburn or anything else I have ever seen.

The hate runs deep between Texas and Texas A&M for sure.

They have a better winning percentage in the SEC than they did in the BIG XII. They were fifth out of six teams in the BIG XII South when they left.

They would have joined the SEC even if it meant they would go 0-8 in SEC play every year.

There is really no reason why they have to be a middle of the pack SEC team. They are in prime recruiting territory, have incredible fan and booster support, and bring in gobs of money.

My uncle who married into our family years ago was a TCU grad back in the Southwest conference days. Back then even when TCU and Rice were doormats everybody in the state of Texas told little moron, polack, or Aggie jokes. The 3 were interchangeable.

I'm glad that clip is making that rounds because A&M does that cringeworthy stuff every single week. It is easily the strangest set of traditions/rituals in college football, if not all of sports. The "insults" at the Midnight Yell are just the tip of the iceberg.

What they were saying about App doesn't even make sense...they were making fun of them for being "backwoods" or something by a dude wearing overalls who goes to school in the bustling metropolis of College Station, TX.

A&M is referred to as a cult for obvious reasons.

Crazy that despite all their resources and texas struggling a&m really hasn’t been relevantexcept during covid year. Hasn’t even gotten into the sec championship game while bama, lsu, and auburn have. Think them and Mississippi are the only two sec west schools to never make it along with vandy/kentucky in the East. Pretty bad company.
They weren’t exactly big 12 dominant as well. Only ever won 1 big12 title in the 16 yrs they were in thanks to our castaway Branndon Stewart in 98.

What's funny is that they have a better winning percentage in the SEC (46-32, .590) than they did in the Big 12 (68-61, .527). They only won/seriously vied for the Big 12 Championship once, in 1998. The move to the SEC has been a total no-brainer for them, dominance or not.

They have to be the gayest school out there and I mean that in the literal, non-politically correct sense. Now I’ll await my cancellation or post removal.
Even though aggy took a lot of eyeballs with them nobody was sorry they took off for the SEC. The only thing they bring to your conference that is noteworthy are those eyeballs.

The BIG XII South was too much for them. Once Leach arrived at Tech aggy was relegated to 5th out of six teams.

Yeah, but the fact that they're doing better in the SEC West with LSU, Alabama, and Auburn than the Big 12 South with Oklahoma and Texas is interesting. Oklahoma and Texas, the two flagship schools in that division, weren't even good during the first 4 years of the Big 12.

Mack Brown was good at recruiting. Folks around here called him Captain February... always had Top Five recruiting classes. The players aggy are getting now would have gone to Texas back then. Mack and Jimbo do less with more than any other coaches I can think of.

Right, which is why as weird as they might be A&M people were right that entering the SEC would help with their recruiting.

I've always thought Brown kind of unfairly got cast as a "less with more" guy based on how his Texas career ended. He certainly was a huge underachiever after the 2009 season. However before that he also had 9 consecutive seasons with double-digit wins, finished in the top 10 6 times, won a title, and played for another. People also forget that was initially was a rebuilding job (Mackovic was terrible). He isn't Saban or Urban Meyer, but he was really good there from 1998-2009.

Mack will be finally going into retirement for good after he's forced out in North Carolina for going 6-6 or 7-5 again.

They are OK with that at UNC. UNC is a great football job. There are enough resources and recruits in the area to win 6 or 7 games, and it is possible to occasionally win more than that, sometimes way more than that. But all they really want out of football is to not be terrible.

In terms of the potential rewards relative to stress level, expectations, etc., that's one of the best jobs in CFB.

According to their message board, not being able to have the bonfire anymore.

A&M much like a lot of people thinks they should be able to throw the most expensive ingredients together and get a national title.
