What is wrong with SEC refs?

Big East teams far superior to any other conference, but I see KY going deep into the tournament. Coach Squid's squad has lots of talent...though two or three will be "one & done" this year, then on to the NBA ('no basketball at all'). Only reason it was good to see the kitties win tonight was it was vanderbunk. I hate that school.

Saliva's zebras just SUCK...that's the bottom line. Lack of competency in officiating only exceeded by their lack of integrity.

More ref comments? Wow. Unreal. Make your own breaks Vols!!!

Who has your allegiance? You clearly are not a Vol fan although you hide behind a bogus name. Why don't you man up and tell us who is your team? Anonymity makes even the weakest among us brave.

Lol, wut?

They lost to USC, struggled with Bama, UT and Vandy in the last few games. They also won against Miss St but there were several bad calls and States best player was held out of the game. LSU has been there only easy win in the last month which isn't saying much. Do you really think they have been playing well enough to go through a conference with Syracuse, Villanova, Georgetown, WVU and Pitt?

Ky may not even play any of those teams. It's a tournament. One shot...single elimination. They could luck out like lots of teams have before. Ky has a better chance in the NCAA based on talent alone than anyone else in the SEC, IMO.

This was my first post:

UK won't make it past the Sweet 16. The have struggled against almost every SEC team. I can see a lot of the Big East teams blowing them out.

I was just making a point. However, I said they wouldn't get PAST the Sweet 16 so when you get down to 16 teams I think you will see more teams of Big East quality than SEC. Also, my post had nothing to do with getting a SEC team to the championship.

I read it twice now. Good opinion. Big East is strong. No telling if any of them will be there after the second game, though.

Depends on who's still there when/if Ky gets to the 16-and how they play. - "PAST the Sweet 16"

Neither did mine. - "getting a SEC team to the championship."

What is it you want me to understand? :ermm:

Why do the refs lean one way or another. Well when it seems to be obvious, for me the Alabama game this past year, I really feel it's just being a fan. Just like we're fans, they're fans too. And they are just as passionate. And sometimes in really big games, it just helps to be reffing, because so many calls are so close. You could reasonably call a foul on any play in football or basketball, much like a strike or ball. And I think their fandom over rides their understanding and viewpoint of what's going on. Just likes what's going on for us, Of course I see most the calls the Vols way. And I guess I wouldn't be so mad about it, if there seemed to be alot of refs rooting for the Vols, but just like we don't seem to generate many of the players that wear the orange, I suppose we don't tend to produce many SEC officials either. Or at least those whose love of a team interpret the action.

Watch some Ky games they seem to get most of the calls. Varnado of Miss St got some bad calls against him when they played Ky and some calls in the Vandy game last night was bad. Cousins gets away with alot. Vandy got two big guys fouled out and the other guy had 4

But sometimes it is announced that "a crew" from the ACC/SEC/BIG10.....etc. will be officiating. Or, "the officials tonight are from the ____ conf.".

I think you are getting confused with football.

Plus, I can attest to the fact that whistle happy refs are everywhere in Division 1 basketball. I went to an Atlantic Sun game yesterday (Mercer vs. Jacksonville) that had over 50 fouls called. Jacksonville shot 31 free throws . . . in the second half alone.

I believe the 2nd foul on Prince today was a clear block and not a charge. It was awful. The replay clearly showed the defender's feet moving as they collided.

The charge/block call is the worst in all basketballdom. It's akin to the pass interference call....a joke.

I got confused with curling.

No, wait! It was football. :)

Great, now I have to abide TV Ted, too. As if the refs haven't been bad enough lately.

My problem with them is that they aren't in our pocket often enough.
