Bam, you should read up a bit on the theory of "public goods" and its criticisms. I'm sure you already have at least an introduction to the topic, but I think doing a little more in-depth research on the matter may lead you to questioning whether the government is best suited for some of the programs in which it currently provides. One piece of advice I would offer is to look at differing sides of the argument so you can make a better informed decision as to your stance on what constitutes a public good and how that compares to the goods currently provided for by the government.
So that means we can't cut DOD spending? :zeitung_lesen:
You have chubbily called the freeloading system the backbone of our economy.
The problem is you have no desire to ever have the free loaders off gov't assistance.
I thought spending taxpayer money like a drunken sailor was the cure for recession?
Like a drunken sailor? No maybe like four drunken sailors. Saving, and cutting spending in programs that have one of the largest impacts on the GDP doesn't make since. After all, one of the failures of FDR was trying to balance the budget during 1937.
I don't like to call individuals living off gov't assistance "Freeloaders". I know plenty of individuals that are desperately trying to find jobs and can't, and trust me, I live in an area with plenty of people who abuse the system/drugs. That said, I would like to see mandatory drug testing for welfare and reform.
1.) Imagine the gaul of the bastard............ balancing the budget.
2.) The people you know are the tiny %....... the 3-5th generation people who live off the system are the people you cherish. Don't act like you want reform.

That is interesting. I'll admit, I'm not a economic expert, I want to major in Political Science after all. But I see the two subjects coexisting, you can't really know politics if you don't know economics.
