What Led to Vols Loss to Mercer Last Year?

I can guarantee you his whining in public because UT did not make the dance then not having his team prepared to play in the NIT cost Cuonzo support. If he worked for me I would have fired him immediately after the game. His actions were ridiculous.

Well the unfavorable and apathetic opinion of the NIT amongst major conference teams is pretty commonplace. That's just the way it is.

No you can't. You can tell me until you're blue in the face about how it hurt YOUR support for him, but you can't guarantee jack squat about his overall support.

Why do you think Cuonzo had so many fans wanting him fired this season ?

If the coaching staff and team does not feel they are playing in a meaningful game , it's okay to put in a lackluster performance. That about right?

jrich only had 6 shots in last years game as well. He should have that by the 8 minute timeout if we are playing as we should.

Of course not, it seems you're related to the guy.

Supporting the head coach is fine, but there's no excuse for not being prepared. Regardless of the situation or opponent.

Ok, Seinfeld. I feel like I shouldn't have to explain why I didn't throw Zo under the bus midway through the season, but this is VN, so a detailed explanation is always in order: we are currently competing for a Sweet 16 spot. At no point during the season did it look like there was 0% chance we make the NCAAs. Hence, I was willing to support the team and coach through the thick. My patience paid off, and I avoided making myself look like a jackass.

Let me reiterate that I would have rather gotten the win and that this is a rare exception. Any postseason tournament that is not for the NCAA championship is pretty much pointless unless you're wanting NIT and CBI trophies.

Because the fans were irrational and unreasonable.

"No way we win more than 10 games"
"No way we finish above .500"
"We'll be lucky to finish in the top half of the SEC"
"No way we make the tournament"
"Even if we get in, we'll be blown out in the first round"
"We're not good enough to beat a team in the field of 64."

Any postseason tournament is like a bowl game in football. It gives the coaching staff more time to work with the players which can make a difference in the upcoming season.

There is zero excuse for a coach not preparing his team to play any game PERIOD.

Cunozo has brought this seasons team together. He deserves an extension and a raise, imo.
A year ago his actions should have cost him his job.

What makes you look like a jackass is defending a coach and team who were not prepared for a tournament game.

CFB and CBB postseasons are not comparable. You're right in that the bowl games help for football, but NIT results are not going to make a difference for recruiting at a major conference school.

You dont think Cuonzo's track record and his actions last season had anything to do with any of those comments?

If you answer no, you need to rake a couple of real pills daily, go to bed , get some rest. You will start thinking rationally in a few days.

His track record, yes.

His "actions" and the NIT last year, that's all in your head.
