What makes you guys think Gainey is a walk on?

I think Gainey will probably get some back up minutes to Dillone until Seigler returns from his ACL injury.

Only way would be if we gave him enough NIL money.

Making him a walk on would provide room for another transfer
How do? Thought we were one over as it stands. Someone has to go don't they? Looks like Edwards is determined to make a go of it here so I'm not seeing anyone else joining the ranks. Correct me if I'm wrong....often am.

With the transfer protal closing on May 11th, I'm assuming we will have to hear if any of our guys enter the portal by then right?

What makes you think he is on scholarship and not a walk-on?
People with knowledge of the situation were pretty emphatic about it when he committed. That was before we ran out of scholarships, but I haven’t seen anyone say that anything has changed with him either.

One of the first articles I read about his commitment was that he would be a walk-on. I have not read anything else that indicated that he was on scholarship. I am sure the Athletic Director knows where we stand on our limits and will not let us exceed them.

All of the guys at Volquest have said that someone has to transfer out there is no walk on situation happening. I trust them more than a random article that came out weeks ago and maybe didn’t have all the information

Do you have a link? I can't find any articles that say he's a walk on.

Dude has to run around in the shower to get wet.

If a preferred walk-on, he gets some meals.

Any insight on his drop in 3pt % from his freshman year to his sophomore year? He went from an insane 49% to 35%. That’s still good, but still a big drop. I understand his volume went up, but he nonetheless made more 3’s as a freshman, so that can’t totally be it. Was he hurt? Forced to play a different position?

Perhaps one of these items, or some mix

1. Scouting...tape...coaches perhaps decided to put a taller, more elite defender on him.
2. Sophomore slump
3. 3-point shooting can be mental; about confidence. If the coach starts screaming when you miss miss miss, that can make you hesitate.
4. Larger sample size
