I never thought I see the day that the legacy and the name of The Tennessee Lady Vols would be the subject matter of so much negativity.

UNBELIEVABLE what the season of 2015-2016 has come to!

Tyler Summitt's drama was the last thing The LVs needed to had happen.

In order for Tennessee to get their name back in a positive note CHW will have to become a better coach and get her team back to winning and playing exciting basketball for the fans. I don't think she's capable of doing it. That's why I can only hope for the best because she's the coach for now.

It is so unfortunate about Tyler Summitt because his name is forever linked to Tennessee. Also Kyra Elzy leaving? Holly may have to answer some hard questions on the recruiting trail and that is not beneficial to the program because she's not a good communicator. Far too many negatives with Tennessee this season. That is what is so unbelievable. We can't catch a break.

On a good note welcome Kamera Harris to RockyTop!

On a positive note...there's nowhere to go but up!:loco: "And this too shall pass"...we all might be tucked neatly away under the grass or in a crypt somewhere when it does...but this too shall pass...

Tyler Summitt's indiscretions don't reflect anything on the Lady Vol basketball program. He was never employed by the Univ of Tennessee in any capacity. The only people who would try to spin it that way are just searching for reasons to be negative.

+1 Exactly! I'm reading other peoples' post like " Wtf does this have to do with Tenn?"....sure his mom was a coach here but why would it affect the LadyVol basketball program?

Why? because he was family. UT's closest thing to an actual heir! That why it matters to UT.

When one is bored. What to do? Start another thread in the Lady VOLS forum to complain about something 500 threads already discussed.

No, it's not. If you're talking about the 'Naughright training room incident', that was tied to the UT football program because it happened while he was at UT.

...and Tyler is only tied to the Lady Vol bball program through his mother.

When you hear "Peyton Manning" you nearly almost hear, "from the U of TN".

I'm not talking about one incident... I am talking about his name.

I don't nearly almost always hear UT following his name but wish I did... That would be great.

I do know that there is no comparing an all time best athlete to the son of an all time best coach. Nobody in the media is making this situation about Tennessee - because it's not.

You obviously don't watch ESPN.

The guy messed up. We've all at some point messed up. He's not the first person to ever commit adultery, nor will he be the last. The fact that he had a relationship with a player is unprofessional but not illegal. They are only a few years apart in age. No, I'm not making excuses for him, just saying I know I'm not casting stones. So many people love to feed off of others mistakes, it's sickening. Let him be and let him deal with it. Between him and GOD. Pray for him and his mistress. Pray for all affected by this (his wife, family, friends). Then leave it be.

The one and only reason this situation disturbs me; it gives John Adams something to write and act holier than thou about. And I won't read it. Will just have to ignore the idiots who do and wish to talk about it.

Louisiana Tech hired Tyler Summitt for a job that he was not qualified for and clearly not mature enough for, either. It's their problem, not Tennessee's.

I always thought the whole thing was weird, anyway. They were our biggest rival anywhere before Geno came along. Pat's first national title and her undefeated season came against them. They cost us a few, too. A Summitt coaching the Lady Techsters is like a Wooden coaching USC or a Bryant coaching Auburn.

How can anyone say Tyler's situation isn't indirectly linked to UT? A number of the posters to this board wanted him back here coaching before the incident occurred...and they were not alone!!
Tyler's situation is tragic in so many ways..but being the son of the greatest women's coach in history and brought up as part of the LV family how can he not be linked to us for good or bad?

Tyler Summitt was not heir-apparent to the LV job. He was coaching at another great problem and he made a terrible mistake. This should not have any affect on the LVBB program at all. Yes, it would be a nice story for the son of the LV coaching legend who was here for most of her success get's the job.

But this is big-time college sports. Schools want coaches that can win Chips and they don't care if you "so-and-so's son" or not. It's about winning not about who the son or daughter is of a coaching legend.

The best thing for VolNation to do is stay here at UT and focus on what UT has to do to restore things to the way they have been for many years, Chips. Tyler has to concern himself now with fixing the damage he's done. Repent and seek forgiveness from God, his Wife, family, his parents, his former bosses, former assistants, and his former players. If he is a man of God as he claims to be, then he needs to endure this. Endure the hurt and pain that will come from his wife and family. Endure the criticism, lack of coaching opportunities in WCBB that will result from this. And if he has to coach men going forward then so be it until God puts him back into a place to coach women again if that is possible.

And the most important thing is to learn from this and apply what he has learned from this and from God's Word and apply them daily.
