What other message boards are saying (Bama Edition)

Dumb and delusional just like I expected.

Yep, especially this comment:
“Bryce or No Bryce, our QB’s are a million times better than Hooker.”

Guess the poster did not see Milroe play.
Hooker
- higher completion % than Young
- zero INTs to Young’s 3
- and pretty sure more yards rushing

I just scrolled through a couple that were not pay sites. Pretty good mixture here.

-No Bryce, No Win against Tennessee

-we can lose this game and win completely out with a Natty. So, what I'm trying to say is ... who cares? We control our own destiny. Not many teams can say that.

-This isn’t a division game so if we lose it doesn’t really affect that much. We would still control our own destiny in the West. That being said, if our team goes into the game without a murderous attitude, we will lose. I don’t want to lose this game. Primarily, I hate UT, but if we can‘t beat them then we have no business sniffing a national championship.

-I think the best of this dynasty is behind us. It doesn't get better than the 2020 national championship year. I'm forever grateful to Saban, but at some point, it becomes a question of has he hung on too long

-All of you above have gone full nuts. This is little sister Tennessee. We’re gonna own Neyland and send them crashing back down to earth.

-Bryce or No Bryce, our QB’s are a million times better than Hooker.

-I’m not worried one bit, Saban will coach circles around Heupel.

-I’m not real sure we win this one fellas. Tennessee is good and I mean damn good. They’re on the verge of being the new king of the east.

-If Saban loses this one, the dynasty is officially over and Ucheat will be the ones that killed it 🤮

-Not real sure why any of you crybabies are worried about an overrated ass Tennessee team that has fully benefited by playing inferior opponents.

-Bama rolls, relax everyone.

-All we have to do is take a step on Hookers hand when he is down.

-Tennessee won’t even come close to making this a game.

-Imagine being a Tennessee fan and getting all hyped for College Gameday and thinking you’re gonna beat Alabama and then scoring 6 points.

-Look, Tennessee is better than they have been, but it’ll never be enough to beat us! Roll damn tide!

-Hooker scares me, if Tennessee goes up by 2 scores in that packed out trash bin Neyland, we won’t stand a damn chance.

-The better team is gonna win. Unfortunately for Tennessee, it’s us!!

Honestly I think the schedules are fairly comparable. It is true that UT has not played a D as good as Bama's. But Pitt has a very good D as does LSU in truth. UF has athletes... which makes them similar to TAM on offense.

Forget Hooker for a moment. From what I saw our backup Milton is better than Mildoo
The question is, if Bryce is the slightly better QB than most think, how unhealthy does he have to be for Tenn to be the team with a QB advantage (I'm assuming he's starting)? 75%? 90%?

And if memory serves they don’t handle crowd noise well so…

I'd say it'll be nice and calm in there with the elegant orange out decor and all. Can't imagine any steroids or moonshine till after the game at least. TN is a very welcoming southern place for neighbors south of the border.
Should be a real nice polite place for those young men to execute their offense.

I always HATE it when our QB is injured and MIGHT play. Seems like they prep him all week and the backup gets leftovers and then gets thrown in during game time to try and save a mess.
Who knows this guy may not play at all or play the whole game. I hope we whip that tail for them either way.

I believe we still have the qb advantage even if he does start, because Bryce has to play more careful than usual where Hendo can move around play loose and just do what he does

Not necessarily a message board thing, but it’s getting annoying to see most Bama fans I see on social media posting that this is our best chance to win and we better take it now. We’re way ahead of schedule with CJH, I don’t see why if we don’t get them this year, next year or the next is out of reach just because they’re “Bama”.

I have seen those Bama fans. The UGA fans thinking they are bulletproof are starting to annoy the piss out of me too. UGA fans running around acting like they’re beating everyone 90-0 and nothing can touch them.

I’m so tired of the talk “If Bryce plays Bama wins” is it really a forgone conclusion that we can’t compete if Bryce plays? I mean come on

I live in Tuscaloosa, my sister and family plus my son live here and are ardent Bama fans. During this week we have crazy meme wars. This year, however they are decidedly docile. Add to that, my interactions around town (wearing Vol shirts and hats) has spawned many “worried” comments.

@sjt18 You can summarize this better than anyone.

Do you know how bad Alabama has been on the road recently?
In 2020, they actually scored 1.1 ppg more on the road than at home. Their "great" teams it seems have been somewhat equal. I think there is one exception since 2012 that there was a great disparity between home and away scoring when they still won the NC or what was for them a "great" season. The standard of course for them is losing 2 games is a letdown.

Over the last two years, there is no doubt they lean on their D when they hit the road. In 2021, they scored 46.6 at home and 34.0 on the road. Essentially two TD's less. That does not account for the creampuffs played at home which probably skews that number about 5 ppg lower at home. Their D allowed 17.9 at home and 22.1 on the road... and pretty equal if you drop the creampuffs.

As I looked back over the last 10 years, they did not have a wide disparity two years in a row. This year their D has allowed 7.5 ppg at home but 3 of the 4 opponents were Utah St, ULM, and Vandy. TAM scored 20. They've played on the road twice allowing a total of 45 pts to Arkansas and Texas. Still a very good result. Offensively, they score 15 more ppg at home than away. But that includes the cupcakes. They scored 20 @ Texas, 24 v TAM, and then blew Arkansas out late away.

In total honesty, there isn't a scoring pattern that supports the idea that they have been worse on the road this year yet. There just isn't sufficient information.

I know this is not encouraging but one common theme in Texas and TAM is that they both held Bama under 400 yds of O. The silver lining is that Bama even with Young has been more of a run dependent team so UT may have more of a shot at limiting them than we might imagine.

Facing their D, the number I think you want to look at is yds/play. TAM has 4.5 while Texas which is the MUCH better model had 5.6. UT averages 7.2. The somewhat surprising thing there is that UT avg'd 7.3 vs LSU and UF... the two most talented D's they've faced. UT has gotten better and has specifically gotten better in Tillman's absence.

UT probably needs at least 6 yds/play to win.

UT allows 5.9 yds/play vs LSU/UF. Bama produced 7.5 yds/play vs TAM and Arkansas. IMO, TAM provides the mark. They held Bama to 5.7 yds/play. UT needs to be around 6 or under and IMO no more than 6.5 to have any chance at all.

But a complete wildcard in all of this is mistakes. Bama has been uncharacteristically mistake prone. They've obviously been good enough to weather their mistakes but they're currently 13th in turnover margin in the SEC. UT is first. UT and Bama are the two most penalized teams in the SEC... so they may give the officials a chance to turn the game. Not good for UT IMO. I guess if there's a silver lining in that it would be that in SEC play Bama's penalties have been more severe. They average more yds/penalty than UT.

I wish I had a source that broke penalties down. A key to this game will be how tight PI and holding are called against Bama's DB's.

One or two of the FL fans on these boards were trying the same thought process out before we played them. The worried that their team might lose, but were ready to write it off as a one-off result, and they'd be right back to beating us next year and beyond.

I think the game itself woke them up to reality. This is us just getting started. That becomes evident once we've hit you in the mouth a few times.

Hopefully we can awaken the Bama fans the same way.

Go Vols!

FWIW I found myself at a Texas Roadhouse bartop in Little Rock in between four Alabama fans. Older gents and obviously not late-year bandwagon fans. Every one of them thinks they lose Saturday. Felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.
