I still don’t get why opposing fanbases and even some of our own say stuff like this. Yeah, we are a defense heavy team and we don’t win like oregon, but we are 8-1 and have been in the top ten 75% of the season. I’d say we are a pretty good team.

You’re exactly right. I remember many of Saban’s offenses being very methodical and being so frustrated when they’d just march down the field with consistent 4-8 yard plays. In fact, it’s almost more frustrating than an explosive offense.

I know that chunk plays are more fun to watch, but 3.4 yards per play will get it done the entire game. When you break it down like that, it doesn’t seem very difficult.

He actually changed up his usual fast tempo and played the best game plan to beat us. Pound the ball and eat clock to shorten the game. Good coaching IMO

Exactly, they couldn’t complete a pass in their first 2 possessions. No sense in gassing your defense early.

They embarrassed our defensive tackles most of the night. We could not stop that run up the middle.

We are really missing Pili. Our LBs are consistently out of position, collapse to the same hole and get blocked by the same player.

Our defensive backs have been a pleasant surprise.

From what I saw, I think Lebby could develop a team. Abysmal conference record aside, I see potential for a more competitive future. MissState should give him a chance (remember Johnny Majors’ first year?). After all, they’re MissState.

Honestly that Miss St team on the field tonight showed more heart than some of the Vol teams we had in our decade of dysfunction.

Bulldogs have nothing to feel bad about. Leach passing unexpectedly put them in a bad spot.

Miss St will be back to a consistent 7-5 or 8-4 type program before long

Would someone with better knowledge of our real depth chart provide who is starting and backing up the LB's?

The LB spot seems to be our defensive weakness and is that due to inexperience and depth?

They're biggest deficiency is certainly their secondary. Outside of that, I don't think they're a terrible team. Offensive line opened a ton of holes. They don't have a ton of talent at WR/TE right now either.

Telander and Arion Carter are the starters, with Jalen Smith and Kalib Perry. Smith is more of a running down guy, Perry being more of a passing down guy. Perry is the oldest guy of the bunch, but played sparingly his first two years and even this year. Everyone else is just a sophomore or RS freshman.

Also, last night I saw us go into the dime package, aka having 6 DBs and 1 MLB on the field a decent amount. We haven't really done that much all year, and possibly could have contributed to some of those runs being ripped off.

So we were playing a 3 man box on D? Point out the play where we had less than 5 in the box - think you won’t find it. Our LB’s didn’t didn’t play awesome, but they are young and will continue to improve.

I hate what happened to Mike Leach, still trying to figure out how a head coach at an SEC School dies from Pneumonia. He should have been put on IV meds and knocked it out, "He had been battling pneumonia all fall". Crazy, if in fact that was the COD. One of a kind Human Being...Missed tremendously.
