I pointed it out last night during the game. Not specifically how it was impacting anyone, but just that it looked like it was not in good shape from the camera angles I saw on TV. A lot of people are speculating about it. Themes seem to be:What is OU and their fans saying about the atrocious field?
This coping, doesn’t even make sense. They must not just be grieving that game but their whole season. Deep in the denial phase.-This game was over midway through the 2nd quarter. Heupel knew it and ran the clock the rest of the game. It could have been really ugly.
-It's easy to win in Knoxville. OU Will do just that next season with an even better defense and a much improved offense.
-We could play Tennessee 10 times and not beat them. Completely dominant
-This is an all-timer “Score kinda close, but really a blowout” kinda game.
-Tennessee did not impress. After all I've heard, I expected a lot more than that.
-Tennessee will lose 4 games this year. Not impressed.
-Tennessee would have thrown the ball down the field more if they needed to…and I think they’d have had success doing so. So hard to say we’d have won, we’d have been more competitive. Tennessee would not have spent most of the 2nd half running the ball into a loaded defensive front.
-Not saying Tennessee isn’t a good team, but not nearly as impressive as what we were sold.
-34 yards rushing and 4 turnovers and lost by 10 to the best offense in the SEC.
-Great win for Josh.....happy for him after what happened here. Meritocracy always beats nepotism.
-We might have won this game if Hawkins was the starter. We will be ok moving forward.
-Hats off to Heupel for the good sportsmanship. Thought he’d run up the score. Glad I was wrong.
-Sooo… the ref with the Tennessee accent was reviewing everything?
-Defense did very well except for some downfield passes to Bru. Heupel knew he had the win so opted to not go for the total kill or at least that's what I think happened in the 2nd half. Hawkins shows to be the next direction.
-Tennessee is the luckiest team on the planet that we didn’t start Hawkins. We would’ve blown them out.
-I’m pissed because Tennessee isn’t even a good team.
-The refs obviously protected Tennessee tonight. Clear as day.
Are you a turnip?Let me get this straight.
You are coming into a forum and demanding an answer (Someone better address) from the group of fans when the answers are obvious to the viewer.
Watch the games over and see if you can figure it out. Let us know because I am sure it will not be the right answer if you have to ask. Your answers lie in the posts of Volnation.
OBTW, put some clothes on.
OU has an elite defense, maybe top 5 in the SEC. Did UT flounder when they ran it down their throat 7 or 8 straight times ending on Sampson's TD run? The biggest issue was the O-line missing their 2 starting tackles. Nico is still young and is still learning, he had some bad reads that left yardage on the field. Aaron Murray has given a good breakdown on every game so far. Nico is still learning. Against NCST Nico had a bad read and threw a bad pass, that happens to the best of them. The other was bad communication between Spraggs and Campbell. The one where Davis got beat on the left side there was also a bad read by the TE. He missed reading where the pressure was coming from and moved up to help the LG who didn't need the help. The other, Davis just got beat again without any help on his side. Johnson played well after he came in.Their defense had our number. We floundered the whole game. In typical Tennessee fashion, we had some lightning strikes to give us the opportunity to score. I am struggling with the question of if we are just not as good as advertised on offense or if their defense is really that solid.
And someone better address Nico getting hit and fumbling/int. That's 4 times between NCST and OK. Georgia and Alabama will feast.....
Yep. Fans are fans everywhere.
UT called a super conservative game because it made sen
Sounds like he wasn’t prepared for our defense though. But to be fair, most people outside of the State didn’t have any idea what we hadGive Venables credit. He knows Heupel's offense better than any coach we'll face this year and apparently he's been preparing for this game since January
Forums are probably the worst place to look for what other team's real fans are saying. I watched with a household of huge OU fans last night and we all were impressed with UT. We knew OU would need our "Sooner Magic" to win, based on how our offense had played the first 3 games. This outcome wasn't a surprise. Tons of respect for Josh and what he has accomplished since leaving OU. Tons of respect for UT program and traditions.
I think this could be a great positive rivalry going forward. A lot of respect from both sides with a little joking trash talking on the side. Great games to come with good fans on both sides.
We should start a GoFund me account to help them fix that field. Plus they could give the rest of the donations to pay for the medical care of that poor defender who injured his leg three times when we were going fast. He must really be in a lot of pain todayMost either admit it’s a big issue but a few are just pretending that wasn’t a factor at all
And one was a 50 plus yard net on the bomb that got called back because of the phantom holding on number 70. The only holding call of the night as far as I remember. Had a really weird feeling about that call. That play stands and it's pretty much lights out everyone goes home and people turn off their TV sets. Holding penalty, kills our drive and kept the game going all the way to the end. I'd like to watch it again and see when the flag was thrown and by whom and why.
Tennessee: 10/82
Oklahoma: 3/32
I'm not sure how much pain that defensive lineman is. But, that running back that struck out on that big 1Q run down the sidelines got destroyed so bad it looked like a car accident. I can assure you he's in pain today, lol.We should start a GoFund me account to help them fix that field. I disagree that it could have easily been a 24 point win.
Football is far more nuanced than a lot of fans realize. Heupel saw that their defense was disrupting Nico's pocket constantly. He also saw that our D was able to make every yard a challenge.
Therefore, he knew that if he reduced their chances to get more turnovers, their likelihood of winning was tiny.
So he chose that route, correctly. Great job all around, huge win.
