-Tennessee is paying us 1.6 million for this long travel and a beatdown, I'll allow it.

-We're not very good and we know it. Tennessee is very good and they know it. I'll let you do the math.

-I am looking forward to traveling to Knoxville for my first time. I have always heard great things about Tennessee fans. I am looking forward to finding some good tailgates and some good conversation.

-Tennessee may be the most ticked off team in the country after falling at Georgia. We will be their punching bags as they will be trying to prove to the playoff committee that they belong.

-I don't expect a ton of resistance at all from our guys. Tennessee will jump out early and not let up.

-This game is not winnable and we know that. Tennessee will be out to prove something so they can finish with just 2 losses.

-Tennessee has us and Vanderbilt left, may the football gods protect both of us. Hell hath no fury like a 2 loss team trying to make a playoff.

-Tennessee is one of the most athletic teams in the country, it's going to be a long afternoon in Knoxville, Tennessee.

-Should we expect 6 minute quarters in the second half? My magic 8 ball says yes.

-If Tennessee can hang 100, they will. They have 2 games left for complete style points with the committee, prepare yourselves fellow Miners.

-We've played Tennessee 3 times historically and they're 3-0 against us. Nothing changes Saturday.

-Our QB situation worries me a lot, whoever gets the nod Saturday is on a suicide mission.

Didn't JH say he wouldn't play Austin Peay again?

While obviously not APSU, the HC for UTEP was the HC at APSU last year.

I really try to make a point to find these fans when they come to Knoxville and try to make them feel welcome. It takes a lot of dedication to be enough of a fan of a mid major program to show up and wear your colors in places like Knoxville, Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa etc. I really try to be friendly and help our school’s reputation with fans from anywhere, but when these little fellas come along there’s just no reason for animosity.

Agreed. We welcomed some fans from South Alabama when they came to Knoxville, turned out they were sitting near us as well during the game. We had a great time, they were really cool.

I think this one is closer than expected. We jump out big early, but the subs aren't nearly as productive in the second half. Just come out healthy and it's a win in my book.

Hilarious. I do hope their fans have a great time in Knoxville.

We do the same, a lot of fans walk by our tailgate as they walk down Cumberland ave toward the stadium. Had probably 15-20 Miss St. fans doing jello shots last home game. Always fun.

Our offense has been so broken for two months now that it will be good to see if we can do anything against a team we should easily be able to move the ball against. I don't care how much we are winning by... no more pulling Nico against these teams at the expense of more in-game experience. Heupel really messed that up during the early part of our schedule and we haven't looked right since the first half of the Kent State game.

This game could have a running clock situation in the second half.

Moore and Merk should see some significant PT.
Unlikely that we have to break the glass on the Gas Pipe fire extinguisher (odd juxtaposition) again this season, and I don’t think more snaps are going to move the needle much for him at this point. Need to give him a series and then let Merk go rest of the way, let Navy Shuler run some qb power for the nostalgia at the end.

Game aside...I had a chance to pass by UTEP on vacation this past September...Goodness, you talk about a beautiful campus, and the Sun Bowl stadium is situated between the desert hills. It's actually quite breathtaking as you pass by on the interstate...I remember thinking, this would be a cool road game to attend.

Really do wish college game would adopt what the high schools here in Indiana have done with a running clock.
If a team has a 35 point lead, the second half is a running clock - clock only stops on possession changes and nothing else.
Game is decided, let's get it over with and off the field.
I don’t believe in running clocks. If you don’t want to get beatdown then get better or don’t schedule good teams. Also, we wouldn’t have these comebacks with a running clock:

Here are the largest comebacks in the history of FBS football where the team that was trailing went on to win:

  • 35 points — Michigan State defeats Northwestern on Oct. 21, 2006
  • 34 points — UCLA defeats Texas A&M on Sept. 3, 2017
  • 32 points — UCLA defeats Washington State on Sept. 21, 2019
  • 31 points — Maryland defeats Miami on Nov. 10, 1984
  • 31 points — Ohio State defeats Minnesota on Oct. 28, 1989
  • 31 points — Texas Tech defeats Minnesota on Dec. 29, 2006
  • 31 points — TCU defeats Oregon on Jan. 2, 2016
  • 31 points — Tulsa defeats Fresno State on Sept. 24, 2016
  • 30 points — California defeats Oregon on Oct. 2, 1993

Fair point.
Maybe 35 us fine for high school and college needs to be a bit higher, but I see the benefits for the running clock more than the points against.

College football should align with the NFL rules. At least the P4 and group of 5. The extra point needs to be moved back. Hell, they've implemented the 2 minute warning. Only proper to adjust game clock rules too. The 2 minute warning is critical. No facking reason for a college game to go 4+ hours
