LWS did Butch purposely hold players out of action in order to get another year of eligibility out of them. In other words did he treat this season as a throw away?

Obviously I'm not LWS, but I think he did hold out some players. I believe he thought he could win 6 games with what he had. Darn near pulled it off. Personally, if that's what he did, I think it was a wise decision. JMO...:hi:

With our WR struggles why did Ryan Jenkins not see the field?

He wasn't an early enrollee so he didn't get the time in the spring that would've helped him get a good grasp of the offense. Also he got injured about halfway through the season

Jones plYed against Auburn and MO and then went MIA.

He was still injured and could not play. If he and CBJ wanted, they could request a medical red shirt and it would be granted. However, I do not believe he will ever play football again because of his medical condition.

In this link, you can see who played in each game for the Vols this year.

Anyone that played in Georgia game or later cannot be redshirted. there is no way they can redshirt even if they played only one play.

Maggitt and Jackson were the only two players to redshirt that would have helped and both wanted to redshirt. Butch went along with their wishes. I don't think he threw the season away.

I doubt they would have changed much as far as record although I could see the argument that they might have changed one game

he can't get a medical redshirt because he played too late in the season

Many thanks LDub….this is great stuff.

Of all the players, I'm most interested to see what LaTroy Lewis and Ryan Harris end up contributing to this team going forward.

The QB situation will also be fun to watch as it plays out.
