I think that UT ends up somewhere between a 4 (most likely) and a 2 (possible but not probable). I doubt they drop below a 4 unless they lose to LSU. If they get to the Kentucky game and lose, they will be a 4 or maybe a 3 (if a few on the 3 and 4 lines make early exits from their conference tourneys). All in all, much of this also depends on how other teams in the same seeding area play out.

If they were to win the SEC tourney, TN might very well be a 2 seed.

Wins over Kansas, KY, and probably either KY, Vandy, or both in the SEC tourney (if they were to win it). They have a couple of embarrassing losses, but who would have more wins against top teams and a 27-7 record to boot?

I think that's unlikely, though. More likely is they win 2 games in the SEC tourney, and wind up a 3 or 4 seed. Not bad at all for a team that lost arguably its best player early in the year.

That we can even discuss the NCAA in this context just adds to my appreciation for Bruce Pearl.

it would be next to impossible to get a 2 seed. we would have to beat UK and Vandy. And there would have to be epic collapses by other teams above us. A 4 is most likely. I think we would have to win 3 games in the SEC tournament to get a 3 seed.

i wish they would change the format for the tourny.i don't understand how tenn. can be a 3 or 4 seed and ranked 13th in the country and have to play on opening day of they the conference tourny

2-5 depending on the SECT.

2: We'd have to take down UK in the semi's and Vandy in the finals. If we did, I think we would play our way into that seed.
3: Win the SECT without playing Vandy or lose to Vandy after beating UK in the semis
4: Lose to UK
5: Lose to Ole Miss

I feel like we're locked into at least a 5, barring a loss to LSU.

They are now considering Ohio State for a 1 seed. If everyone loses (Duke, K.St., and Purdue) and we could somehow (big somehow) win the SEC tourney I think we would deserve a one, yes 1, seed just as much as Ohio State. Those are alot of ifs. The chances are about 1 in 20-50, but I think that our resume is just as good as theirs. There I said it. Let the laughs begin.

Tennessee has two losses by 20+ to awful teams, and drubbings at the hands of Vandy and Florida.

Ohio St. has one bad loss by 9 to Michigan and they were missing Evan Turner, and a so so loss to Minnesota when Turner was still less than 100%.

Tennessee may have two better wins, but when you factor in the losses it ain't close.

Comparing UT and OSU. The Vandy loss was no worse than OSU's Wisconsin loss. Obviously a loss to UNC will never be viewed as a bad loss no matter what, but losing at Florida is no worse than losing to UNC this year on a neutral court.

I agree though, the USC blowout is hard to overcome.

This.

UT has no shot at a #1 seed.
