Once you get within 5:00 of kickoff, the routine may incorporate portions of other songs, but it will always include "Rocky Top," then "Fight Vols Fight" ( Fight Vols Fight - YouTube) and, as the "T" parts and the team comes racing onto the field, "Down the Field" (Tennessee Fight Song- Down the Field (With Lyrics) - YouTube) is played. That sequence is Pride of the Southland Band tradition; I have no idea how often, if ever, Tennessee head coaches have made special requests from the band director. Perhaps some of our former band members, who occasionally post here, could provide clarification on this point.

Is it bad that I hate rocky top. I will sing it and woo but deep down in me there is hate for that song. In a perfect world the band would play our actual fight song "down the field" 300 times a game. It pisses me off that they barely play it. Its worse than bad to say you hate Rocky Top. I love Down the Field and Fight Vols Fight, but any anti Rocky Top sentiment is blasphemous!
