What the heck

Guys, the Florida game is in the past. Not a dang thing can be done about it now. Just take care of business against SC and get to the bye week. We catch A/M at home after a bye week, following their game against Alabama. Win against SC and A/M and the season isn't a lost cause. This team was never a SEC or National champion material, but no one in the SEC is dominant. Georgia is dominat on D but can they outscore an Oregon or USC? I'm not so sure. Tennessee takes it one game at a time and the season can still be respectful. This team just isn't as talented as last year. Transfer portal has leveled the playing field across the county. SEC won't dominate, year in and year out anymore. It is what it is.

Anyone else slightly concerned about going to Lexington after Bama in a few weeks? I know it’s Kentucky but they always play us tough there.
And they always lose…unless our HC is drawing his last breath.

If you’re not concerned about playing a good team on the road in the SEC then you’re ignorant or overconfident.

A loud home crowd has a huge effect on the road teams offense and the officials eyesight.

Tennessee is gonna be in trouble playing at UK. They are destroying Florida.
They are very one dimensional on offense, which is where our defense has excelled since Tim banks has been here. That part gives me some pretty good hope, but we're going to have to play smarter than we did at Florida.

We have a mental block against Florida. Sorry, its just reality. Spurrier came up in the 90s and took our soul and we’ve never really gotten it back. Florida has beaten us and then gone on to lose to much worse teams than this years Kentucky squad. Florida isn’t “back”, Napier isn’t anything special, we just played like dog crap and they played well.

The nice part is if Florida stinks it up the rest of the way maybe that recruiting class will fall apart.
The kids on our team probably don't even know who Spurrier is.

Doesn’t matter. That’s what kickstarted the curse and it’s loomed over us ever since. I mean we never beat Muschamp and only beat McElwain once. Both are bad coaches.

And who was our coach in those games?

I get it. Doesn’t change the fact that we are cursed versus them since the spurrier days. Our national championship winning coach also had a overwhelmingly losing record to them. My point is no matter how bad Florida is they are always tough for us and usually beat us, when was the last time we really blew out Florida? I’m 38 and I can’t remember it. Granted I’ve only really been watching Tennessee football since the early 90s.

Edit: looks like we smoked em pretty good in 1990 when I was in kindergarten.

Even Fulmer had a pretty terrible record against Florida, 5-13 I believe. Peyton was 0-4

It's not a recent or we suck issue. Florida is an issue for us.

And guess what? Kentucky has beat Florida in the past as we still owned Kentucky when they make UF look weak. even when we lose to UF. The transitive property doesnt exist in football.

We held Ray Davis to 60 yards and 2.9 yards per carry last year. Stoops has yet to beat Heupel, even Heupels first year when Kentucky was better and it was at Kentucky. Does it make UK and automatic win? No.

everyone looking for doom and gloom need to learn to let the game happen.

This game makes me mad and worried about Heupel. He simply did not have a good game plan or his team ready against FL.
Can fans like you just step away from the edge. I understand that on paper, we should have beat Florida, but they simply just called the right plays. That can happen to any team. Did you think the Lions would beat the Chiefs? What about the Cardinals beating the Cowboys? What about the bills beating the dolphins by 28? No one thought any of those could happen. But they did. Because football is a game that can be won against all odds with a good gameplan. And that's what Florida did against Tennessee. Heupel gave you an 11 win season in his second year at UT and you're ready to give up on him after a loss in a violent environment? **** happens in football. Especially in the sec. He's the best coach we've had in so long and you should be so grateful that he's here. Shame on you

I’m not on a ledge and I feel no shame for my comment. The Vols played great Saturday night and the game plan on both sides of the ball was excellent. The Florida loss was and will remain a bad effort all the way around. It had nothing to do with the series history going back to the 90s. It was a bad loss same as SC 2022. I never suggested Heupel should be fired or isn’t the coach we need right now. That performance was concerning and maddening. He’ll have other chances to show if he can get his teams to play well on the road like he did @lsu and @kentucky.
