What They Are Saying About Coach Serrano

You realize that the program has only been revived for 3 years, right?

The first year was obviously terrible, the second year, we made the NCAA tournament as a 2 seed, and this year, we narrowly missed the tournament.

When was the last time that Tennessee even made the tournament?

Yes, I am fully aware of how long (or not so) you've been around. If coaches alone could win the CWS you guys would be right there every year. You guys have good coaches and poor talent. UT has had awful coaches and good talent. I would rather have the latter, and now that we have a coach who can walk and chew gum at the same time, I would be willing to bet you'll see a Horton-like turnaround next year.

Poor talent=6 players drafted?

Our main problem this year was one of the worst bullpens in the NCAA.

I've said it a million times, but you can tell a ton about a coach by what their peers say about them. Dave is highly respected and I'm glad he's back in Knoxville. He's going to do some special things here.

I agree!...I just found out he was hied as head coach and am extremely happy to have him back in k-town!...I too believe he will do great things here.

What was the earliest round? UT has had players come through who were drafted highly out of HS, but the chosen one ran them into the ground. I think Horton would exchange rosters if he could is all I'm saying.

Eh...I'd say the talent levels at the 2 programs are pretty close to equal.

I misspoke, it was actually 8 players drafted.

Tyler Anderson, LHP, first round, Colorado

Madison Boer, RHP, second round, Minnesota

Scott McGough, RHP, fifth round, Los Angeles Dodgers

Kellen Moen, RHP, seventh round, Kansas City

Jack Marder, C, 16th round, Seattle

Danny Pulfer, 2B, 19th round, Arizona

Alex Keudell, RHP, 38th round, Minnesota

KC Serna, SS, 42nd round, Cleveland

Very nice, I'd definitely give the pitching edge to your team this year, but UT has some very solid young guys. But I would have to give to us a big edge in hitting.

He doesn't have a degree. I will believe that he can walk and chew gum at the same time when I see it with my own eyes.

It's interesting that "baseball people", ie those who know the sport especially coaching the sport, are all praising the hire. He may not have a "degree" but I guess his knowledge of baseball is equal to a Masters degree. When UT begins winning again, what will you "degree'ed" fans have to complain about? Good luck coach. Wish you all the success. VFL

Just from reading posts on tigerdroppings and shaggybevo, this hire has certainly gotten a lot of people's attention.

Hat even made tigerdroppings although everyone was laughing at him.

I think the question here is whether or not these great baseball minds have an accredited degree... :p
