What to expect from a Cutcliffe offense

I for one was more upset by his replacement than his departure, however to totally dismiss the players that he developed like T Martin and Heath Shuler seems a little short sighted. I was also impressed with his tenure at Ole Miss considering what he had to work with. I am willing to be open minded for a little while anyway.

Giving him credit for being a great QB coach is different than praising him as an OC. I do believe that OM was a little quick to pull the trigger. I'm open minded but just wasn't thrilled with the choice. Believe me, I hope I'm dead wrong on this because it I'm not...

Anyone in particular you would you have liked to have seen get the OC job?

I'll admit I'm not as up on who's available but I would like to see us inject some new blood into the program. Who else did we actively pursue? Some days the UT coaching staff resembles an Alabama family tree. Maybe get someone who didn't cut their teeth under Majors. I know it's a pipe dream but a new assistant with some fresh ideas might help (like a special teams coach!) TT really seemed to put a shot into our recruiting.

I really hope he gets it done. However, some people around here love to knock Fulmer for losing to Spurrier all those years but fail to mention that the offensive gameplans in a couple of those truly lost us the game.

Maybe I'm just venting because the season can't get here fast enough.

I hope he rolls Ainge out of the pocket away from the pressure. It's unbelievable how accurate he is on the run, but how inaccurate he is in the pocket with a WR wide open in the endzone. Talking about that Iso play reminds me of a funny story. A friend of mine grew up in Germany. When he moved here to N. Alabama he found himself playing high school football and I don't mean soccer. He wasn't used to hearing the southern accent, and he asks the coach "hey coach can we run that a$$hole play again." Needless to say the coach wasn't amused.

I, for one, would rather see him develop Ainge into an accurate "pocket passer." He is not built to be a scrambling, rolling out QB, IMO.

Are you kidding me? In '04 and '05, Ainge sailed so many, ALMOST ALL, of his passes when he was rolled out. Myself and everyone I know mentioned how they should keep his gluteus in the pocket to let him set his feet. We must have watched different games, or one of us has no clue.

Chris Hatcher, Chris Hatcher, or Chris Hatcher. I think he may be the next big thing if he gets his shot in the big leagues.

I'm also pretty sure that the Mannings might have made it to the NFL without Cut.

I think the Manning's may have taught DC more than he taught them. With that said, I believe also that his offense has evolved in ways that are less Vanilla, and will attack defenses. I have read where he has said his philosophy has changed a bit since being at Ole Miss, and being the QB's coach at Notre Dame. DC learned quite a bit from Charlie Weiss. I guess everyone has their own opinion, but I believe our offense this year will be as crisp as we've seen it since he left us after the 98' championship year. Im looking for us to be right there with Florida competing for the SEC championship.

You don't have to sell me on Hatcher. He is a year older than me and from the town I live in. He is a little tainted due to his being on Mumme's staff at Kentucky, but he is going to be super hire for somebody. All he's done in Division II is win, win, win.

He was on a staff in D-I that all they did was cheat, cheat, cheat.

Yeah . . . That's what I just said. He's probably tainted to some degree due to being on Mumme's staff. But I can tell you personally that this guy is about as straight laced as they come. And no matter whether he's tainted or not, every QB that he coaches throws for a gazillion yards (Culpepper, Couch, Bonner etc.)

I was just having a little fun with you. I don't remember Hatcher being implicated in any of their violations. I respect both your opinion and that of Lexvol. If you guys say he can coach, that's good enough for me.

Your point is valid though. His Mumme connection is the only possible explanation for his not being on somebody's staff. He's excelled as a player, a position coach and now as a head coach.

I think he will open up the offense alot more this year then randy sanders did. If he can turn that offense in ole miss to a good one, I dont see why he can't do it here, again. Here is to hoping a new mix of playcalls and bringing back the use of the Tight end in our formula.

Very average will constitute considerable improvement over last year.

true, i'm not sure if it will lead to wins though. we have to keep foster healthy.
