What was the cause of the two instances UT players were fighting and pushing one another?

Think what you will but if you’re an olineman and believe the other team is trying to hurt your guys you’re going to get your point across. Refs lost control, Campbell lost control as well. Doesn’t excuse it, doesn’t make it right but when you play you want a guy that’s going to knock the piss out of someone if they’re playing dirty and the refs aren’t doing anything about it.

Are you sure it was the refs? Or espn, or the NCAA? Or was it the SEC and Sankey? Gotta be one of the boogeymen right?
Well it certainly can’t be the flag throwing angels! Jesus died for the refs to be allowed to cast the only stones..

He’s been banged up w/ a shoulder for more than half the season . He probably shouldn’t be playing

He has a torn labrum in his shoulder. Wont get surgery til after the season. I admire his toughness, and heart, he has always had both in spades...but Squirrel has also dropped very important balls downfield (Bama) because he was hurt. He had a deep ball vs Bama in both hands caught, and literally took 1 hand off the ball staring down at the ground looking to use the hand/arm he removed from the ball to keep him from landing on his hurt shoulder. It was blatantly obvious. He didnt maintain the catch with just 1 hand, and it was ruled incomplete. He has been an absolute shadow of his former self. When healthy he is sometimes dominant...I love Squirrel. He should have been redshirt this season though and had surgery. It has hurt him, and the team. We have solid slot WRs that can play behind him. He really wasted a year of eligibility this season. Look at his stats compared to last year.

Oh i forgot, maybe its Saban paying the refs, and the players. Oh wait, he retired, Kirby is the reason we dont win ever game lol. We’d be undefeated and winners of the last 10 national championships. Sorry, to question your wisdom.

Not hurt necessarily, but they were frustrated and they got chippy. Refs should have done a better job of controlling some of that, IMO.
Vandy D players were really in the faces of VOL O players and talking. I was surprised refs let it go on.

Free speech?

The refs are bad, but God bless yall will find something yo blame. Every. Single. Time.
I don't see anyone blaming the refs. Campbell certainly should have been flagged but the cheap shot at Squirrel should have been a flag and the bs Horse Collar it was absolutely sh1t. Tennessee has to find a way to play clean football. Procedure penalties are gonna happen in this offense but they drive me insane

And here you are mocking people for complaining, while you agree there’s a problem.

Are you here to share your thoughts or do you come to Vol Nation to antagonize people? I believe you’ve answered that already..

Makes me think refs will be under orders to throw more flags for the yappin', smack talk, and pushing to end this in-game and post-game ruckus. That will be bad for us because we have too many players that will not keep their cool.

If they actually had flagged the yappin as you say they would’ve flagged Vandy. When a few players have been running their mouths about “ending someone’s season” all game long and a player gets injured what do you think the mentality is?

I was referring to the post-game drama around the country. I expect the conference championships and the playoffs to include more dead ball flags because of it.
If our players suspect flags will fly and they still run their mouths and push, that is poor coaching.
Vandy's #6 could have been flagged several times during the game yesterday.

No. That was 100% Campbell being a moron.
Campbell was on a rampage on that play. I'm all for the overly aggressive OL but there is a line he can't cross and he did. That man was knocking down Vandy defenders like bowling balls. He legally destroyed a guy right before he illegally hit another guy on the same play. I would have to watch the previous play to see what set him off but someone for sure flipped his switch. He looked like he genuinely felt justified for his actions

A torn labrum is no joke. For him to be playing says a lot about his toughness. He’s got a tough rehab in front of him in the offseason.

If this is what it was about, I get it…… I remember the ‘99 Florida game when they were blasting Martin repeatedly. On one play in particular …. I think it was Alex Brown….nailed Martin after he pitched the ball…. Helmet to the face… devastating hit…. No flag.
I 100% thought and expected Fulmer and Co. to return the favor on Doug Johnson, but they never did out of fear of a 15 yard penalty.
I lost a ton of respect for Fulmer that day.

Trey Smith comes to mind. He’s like this, but manages to stay just within the framework of the rules. I’m giving Campbell a break on this one. Yes, it was dumb and you can’t play that way all the time, but football is an emotional game and I want my lineman to have that dawg in them.

Idk if Vandy was trying to hurt our guys or anything but that’s what was said. #6 had continuously been jawing about ending our season on the field. You had a lot of talk, some extra curricular crap going on during play, and flags mostly being thrown for one side on the personal foul side to a point; refs lost control so one of the guys took matters in his own hands.

I completely agree with you’ve got to play smart and not lose control but if one of your guys is on the ground and you think they’re trying to injure your players of course that’s a different story.

We were lucky Campbell wasn't tossed and miss the first half of the playoff game....

We sure in the hell know the Big 10 won't follow their rules and punish the OSU players who were kicking and punching Michigan players/media after the game yesterday...
Nah they’re going to reward them with a home playoff game.

That's why I can't bash him. I want my OL to be as mean and nasty as possible. So when they go overboard I can't turn around and say you're too damn mean.
