How pitiful do you have to be to think that 1 game is a streak?
They have reveled in this all year. Give 'em 2 in a row and they'll be hanging coon dogs from the streetlamps on West End for the next 11-29 (and NO, I don't mean live dogs).

:lolabove: off topic, that's freaking hilarious.

back on topic, it would take a meltdown over the last two games this year, and a horrendous season next year for anyone to think of firing him.

Come on, even the diehard Fulmer supporters must realize that if UT loses to Vandy and Kentucky this season, he is gone. Not only are those losses to Vandy and UK, but that means UT will have dropped 4 of their last 5.
For some reason... Even in that case, I still see UT having a hard time canning Fulmer. Sure, we would all call for it... I dunno, seems a little unrealistic at that point. And it's not like Larry Coker where he inherited a national championship team, Fulmer was instrumental in building one. I've just noticed that the UTK athletics department is just generally lacking in balls. That's all.

Keep thinking that.

Vandy missed the game winning FG against Arkansas as time expired and took Florida to the wire. Kentucky also led Florida at a little time I like to call halftime.
Luckily I don't play on the team. Yeah, we lost. I think some people are taking this whole thing way too far, we are not that good of a team. A lot of fans got inflated egos after beating Cal and Georgia. We thought we were on top. Well, we're only a year removed from a losing season in the SEC. That's pretty low. But all of a sudden we drop two in a row, and people start freaking. We're still decent. People be leanin towards one extreme or the other... We're just in the middle. That's all.

Where did I even remotely allude to the fact you're on the team?

Ironically enough, you continually refer to the team as "we" and "us" as if you are on it...

"Freaking" has nothing to do with. Vanderbilt beat Tennessee last year. This isn't the Vanderbilt of the 90s, they're getting better. So is Kentucky, obviously. They'd usually go years without competing with a Tennessee, Florida, or Georgia. The fact, they're both getting better. Anyone living outside of the "Haha, Vandy and Kentucky are teh suxors" can see that these aren't the Vandy and UK teams that can be beat by simply showing up.

Exactly. They both took us to the wire in '04, Vandy beat us last year, and they both have competitive against good teams this year.

The same Vandy team that just lost to MTSU last season with Jay Cutler? And aside from sneaking up on an incredibly low an unmotivated Georgia, what have they done this year? Granted, Kentucky is a step above teh suxorz. They've beaten everybody they should have, and had the same sneak-up game on Georgia... Big deal, it's been done before.

Point being, they're improving. Used to, they couldn't sneak up on anyone. Now they don't only sneak up, they beat people.

You say "big deal", but if it was a Pac Ten team it would symbolize the growing power and balance of the conference.

No. Take Zona's beating Cal this last weekend. Does that mean the bottom half of the Pac is that much better? No. It means Cal fell asleep and lost to a bad team.

I am not sure that UT fans' expectations are realistic. For the forseeable future, you know that both UF and UGA are going to be tough. Sure looks like South Carolina is motivated ot get better -- we'll see after SOS has them and has recruited for a few years. And it does seem like both Kentucky and Vandy will form year to year be in a position to upset somebody's apple cart.

I guess I am saying that I don't think it makes sense to put a specific number of years between winning the SECE or the SECCG as "acceptable."

I think you have to look at where things are overall. Given that everyone around you is making strides and gettign better, what are you doing to keep pace? Is it working? Are there problems that could have and should have been avoided? Things like that.

You're constantly praising the Pac Ten as the beacon of balance and parity. Are they all good or all bad?

Oh jeez, you got me. I don't know. Just because I say the Pac-10 has more parity than any other BCS conference, means all the teams must be the same! Oh crap, they aren't all going 5-4 and 4-5! What will I say?!

since we won the nc in 98 Fulmer has won 2 of the last six bowl games we've appeared in he cant win at home against ranked opponents someone tell me what that record is? he may be a great man and a great recruiter so wasn't cooper at ohio state they got rid of him. You have to be able to do the job and Fulmer isn't as far as I'm concerned personally I think he's too lackadaisical, and I wouldn't lose any sleep if they fired Fulmer.

You don't have to say anything.

In fact I'm not sure how I got to talking about the Pac Ten. Anyway, point is, Vanderbilt isn't the doormat they once were. Same for Kentucky. No, they're not world beaters, I'm not saying that. They're just better, that's all. To completely dismiss them as a threat to win is just a vulgar display of ignorance.

What would it take to get CPF fired?(After surviving 2005)

I'm beginning to think it would take his going 0-12 for three consecutive years, losing to Carson-Newman 44-0, being caught having an afair with Smokey's mom, and the administration finding out he was the guy on the grassy knoll in Dallas in 1963:angry: .

I kinda agree with you.

Almost everyone around us is getting better in the past few years.

Nick Saban led LSU to the top of the nation, and Les Miles continued to lead LSU on the top of the SEC.

Mark Richt rebuilt UGA to the powerhouse in this country. 2 SEC titles in the last five years.

Tommy Tuberville led Auburn back to the national map. (ie, the perfect 2004 season)

Urban Meyer begins leading Florida back to the SECCG, and I think they will be the biggest SEC east contender in the next few years.

Steve Spurrier boosts the SC program, and SC becomes a contender in SEC after he came in.

Even Vandy and Ky are obviously getting better.

What about us? What have we changed since 1998? Nothing! I am not a hater of Fulmer. But I have to remind those vols who usually pull out Fulmer's record, and tell me we have a great coach in this country (He is the winnest active coach with 10+ years.), our strong oponents are getting much better, while we stay the same! Fulmer did a good job in the past few years (except last year), but not enought to catch up other SEC power houses. Florida and LSU (maybe Arkansas?) game already tell us this.

I always believe we need some serious changes to help Tennessee go back to the top of SEC.

I agree, there is no way we would fire him. Either his contract expires in 2012 (hopefully I am right) or he resigns for some mysterious reasons would let him go.

I voted for losing to either because to me neither one would be acceptable. I don't realistically think it would be enough for CPF to get fired. If either one beats us he will play the injury card to it's furthest extent.
