True; and when asked he said Indiana is his dream job but he felt he owed something to UT for giving him a chance while others blacklisted him.

How long before he feels the debt has been paid?

tu che (sp?)

I forgot about that statement....

I really do think that Creen will be there until he retires though. IU fans got so embarrassed by Kelvin because they take program integrity more seriously than anyone else in the nation. Creen has always been all about that too and has had proven success. I don't think Pearl is "slimy" but many in the nation do. This, coupled with the fact that he already said no, and assuming that Creen will have success, I just don't know that he gets another opportunity from them.

I had the opportunity to hear him speak a few years back in an informal setting at length about the controversy that got him blacklisted by a lot of basketball people. While I won't go into the details, he did say that one of the people that reached out to him immediately during the scandal to stand up for him in support was Coach Bob Knight (obviously still at IU at that time).

So I'm not sure that his name was ever out of their good graces.

none of the above. about 4 million a year from a national power school that wants to bring back their bball tradition (so money). Most of those schools seem happy with their coach at the present. Hanging banners and championship rings will only get Bruce raises at the University of Tennessee!!!!

I'm right there with you. I don't get it either.
You just have a few people that are still shell shocked over the Kiffin fiasco. That is what I've attributted it to.

Many of us felt that Tennessee was destination football school and basketball was the stepping stone position. But when you have a guy use our football coaching position as a stepping stone to somewhere else, that only heightens the concerns that eventually, Bruce will probably bounce the first time some NBA/Carolina/Indiana job comes open.

Personally, I think it would have to be an ungodly amount of money that tempts Pearl to leave. But I can't think of many schools out there right now that would be willing to pay bruce an obscene amount of money to leave Tennessee.

I still say Bruce aint going anywhere he has to compete with someone elses legacy. I really think thats important to him. Here at Tennessee he can write his own history and he has the backing and support($$) to do what it takes to get the job done. He's 50 how is going to stand-up in career numbers at North Carolina....besides Calapari is still alive and well and has no problems taking jobs with big loot...not so much Bruce.
Bones never lie.
