We all have our opinions on what is the best course of action to fix our nation so here is a question for you. If you became president of the united states and have free reign to change what you wanted, what would you do?

Start by downsizing federal govt. Cut a couple of "Dept of Xs".

Paycuts for politicans. Term limits also.

Completely redo the tax system.

Welfare cut back. Acutally pay attention to who gets what and for how long. Drug tests for welfare recipients. Cut free health care for illegal immigrants.

I could come up with more, but basically most anything that reduces federal govt influence on our everyday lives. Much smaller fed.

lower taxes, especially corporate taxes

encourage more domestic energy exploration and production

veto cap and trade, card check, socialized medicine, and any other protectionist, pro-union or anti-capitalist legislation

push for the Fair Tax or some other consumption based revenue generator for the government.

Make a statement to the world we (The US) grow tired of being the the cop of the civilized world considering the united nations are here, we assume most of the cost, and what we contribute is viewed as agenda drivin, and up to endless scrutiny as well as endless critism. Therefore the United Nations will now be headquartered in France, let them assume the role of the unloved and un appriciated as they don't seem to recognize or care if they are respected. Furthermore we will not hear the cries of the downtrodden, or the undefended. Those in need of defending seek out France, I'm sure they will answer.

Not just term limits but salary limits. Let some slicker get his pay cut by over 50% it's amazing how his patriotism dries up.

Let the world know that we as a nation seek no war with any other nation, however if attacked, we will without hesitation turn your nation into a green glass parking lot thousands of square miles wide.

Term limits for Congress

Partial privatization or lock-box approach to Social Security with goal of moving away from program to individual responsibility/control over time

Tax simplification - reduction; possible removal of corporate taxes

Budget balancing via spending cuts

Reduction of size, scope and intrusion of Federal Government in daily life and global affairs

I like these, but would add the line item veto.

ding ding ding, and this is how you jump start the economy. funny that obama doesn't understand that ppl won't open new business' if they are going to get taxed to death

tax the hell out of the foreign buisness owners, give massive tax breaks to small american business folks. welfare-extremely limited, section 8 housing-gone, No child left behind-gone, educational system in America performance based, teachers will get higher pay and plenty of resources to do their jobs. parents will be held to a higher accountability. Flat/Fair tax-enacted. middle finger to the UN, send kim Jong Il a message that if he wants to shoot his pretty little missles thats cool, mine are bigger and make a larger boom. Countries that harbor terrorists, and assist and aid will starve until they turn over who they harbor. isreal-curbstomp the Hezbollah and all of the other palestenian thugs.

taxing foreign business owners would be a mistake since the retaliation against American-owned business overseas would be swift and the ensuing trade war would benefit nobody.

lowering corporate tax rates and ending the penalty paid by US companies' overseas operations (they are double taxed, and aren't refunded foreign taxes paid) would lead to an explosion of business interest in the US.

what i was refering to is the absurd amount of tax breaks we give people from other countries to come to America to start businesses (IE gas stations etc) and we tax the hell out of the American business owner

And I think we may be getting somewhere. I would also add removing tax on foodstuffs. And make it up on luxury goods. Legalize Marijuana and tax the crap out of it. Increase alternate energy sources and make mandatory all new vehicles built by 2015 must be able to run on both gasoline and ethynol. No taxes on domestic fuel sources. Harder restrictions on immigration and tougher enforcement on illegal immigration.

Creation of a nation wide welfare workforce. If you receive welfare and are not disabled and under the age of 55 you must report to a location daily for community service. It may be mowing yards for the elderly or picking up trash on the side of the road but if we are paying you then you are working for us.

I would immediately implement congress into the Tricare system and set their retirement to that of regular GS employee.

Personally I would overhaul the military and NASA and increase research and development.

dissolve teachers unions.

Take 'most favored nation' trading status with China away and implement stringent product testing at our ports on all of their products.

take away all corporate taxes on companies that employ US workers. Give the option to small/start-ups to utilize Tricare system.

Start work on a smart energy grid and fund the crap out of feasible energy projects.

- Tax anybody making over $100K/year at 90%. Give rebates to all others in order to "spread it around" more evenly

- Free healthcare for everybody, paid by aformentioned tax

- Increase funding for all welfare

- A free house if you have enough kids and want it

- Increase donations to UN, give up security council seat as gesture of goodwill

- Strike peace treaty with every terrorist organization

- Denounce Israel as a terrorist organization and occupying army

- Make abortions 100% legal, under any circumstance, whenever it is wanted...paid for by the government

- Make atheism the official state religion, anybody practicing anything else will immediately be put on trial for treason

- Cut military funding by 95%

- Subsidize all unions, everywhere

- Immediately funnel all R&D resources to combat global warming


...lol....I think that about covers it. I will keep you informed if something else comes to mind.

lol...while we are it, take the remaining 5% of the military budget and direct it towards Obama's own private Gestapo....and we should probably do away with that peksy 2nd amendment thing to make things easier. The presidency, from henceforth, shall be a hereditary state position.
