Here's the thing in the 90's when the SEC was down, we still won and we still recruited well. When we were relevant nobody ever said, "man I hope Florida wins their bowl game" Now that we suck people Jock the SEC, its a pathetic loser mentality.
Makes sense. These guys don't get it though. You're wasting your time and so am i.
Interesting thread.
With the 4 team playoff looming, conference strength definitely comes into play.
If the SEC's past reputation allows a 1-loss Tennessee team a national title shot over another conference's undefeated or 1-loss team, perhaps then you'd understand why some people prefer to see SEC teams succeed.

You guys obviously aren't old enough to remember when the Big 10 and Pac-10 used to be considered the best leagues in the land--and the press ALWAYS talked about Oklahoma, Nebraska, Notre Dame, USC, Michigan, and Ohio State--not to mention Puke State up there in Penn...ALL of those yankee-boys in the press can't wait for the SEC to be shoved off the top of the mountain and get back to those days.
But they can't do that now because the SEC has dominated the BCS era, and every conversation about the NC starts with an SEC team--and I absolutely will be rooting for Auburn to beat Fl. State by as many as possible to keep the SEC on top!
So Yes--you are absolutely WASTING your time trying to convince me to accept an illogical and uninformed point of view--because I DO REMEMBER those days.eace2::salute:
agree 100%
I remember also. 47 years a college football fan and the first 3+ decades spent watching the rest of the country ignore us and shove us aside every chance they got. It was a popularity contest every year to see who the National Champ was and the SEC wasn't popular. It was a miserable time to be a SEC fan and the ONLY people who rooted for the SEC and believed in the SEC was the SEC. That's why I will always root for the SEC over anybody else.
These young folks have only seen the BCS era where the BCS forced everyone to take notice of us and we proved we are the best football conference in the nation.
SEC always and the rest of the country can kiss my southern ass !
