There's a good shelter not far from the bus station so you won't have to walk very far.

:) Thanks but I don't do buses.

Theres a thread in the Basketball forum saying Martin thinks the SEC is getting shafted by the NCAA Selection Committee. Perhaps so, but that seems to be an easy excuse.

With all the conference realignments happening, there look like there will be even more mid-major basketball conferences in the future. That means more competition to get into the NCAA. It would seem to me that the SEC coaches need to look hard at what they can do to improve their programs or else we'll be complaining about this every year.

marquette (florida)
middle tennessee (florida)
wisconsin (florida)

oklahoma (arkansas)

vcu (missouri)
illinois (missouri)

wichita state (tennessee)

this is the entire league's non conference wins against the rpi top 50. 14 teams in the league. 7 wins. only two wins came against the rpi top 25.

none of them, that's zero, came on the road. missouri was the only team to win a "neutral" site game played outside of its home state (vcu)

kansas, alone, has 5 non conference wins against the rpi top 50

Although there are always teams that get snubbed & teams that get in that don't deserve to this year the committee seemed like they were all on crack.

I can't speak to Missouri, but amoungst the rest of us....Kentucky is the only one who gives a flip about basketball. Heck, I can only name 4-5 of the coaches in the whole fricking league and I pay closer attention than most folks in the south.

I can probably name more ACC basketball coaches than SEC basketball coaches.

Miike K and Roy W....ok, so I was wrong

In addition, you can't really speak for a lot of Vol fans at VN who care more for BB than FB. Just because you're not interested doesn't make it irrelevant.

schools outside of UK, UT, VANDY and ARK only care about football. if florida didn't have Billy D, they wold have half full arenas. They can't even sell out now. it's just a football culture. ADs wold rather invest in football.

Two different arguments.

Football pays the bills, but basketball is a nice chunk of change, too.

Missouri disagrees with you.

It's cyclical. When Bruce was at UT, this whole forum went apes**t over basketball. Now it's back to "football RAAWKS, basketball is stupid." VFL, GBO.

As a guy who lived a few years in Michigan, all you need to do is compare the fan support and the facilities. The Big 10 has some fantastic arenas. Luckily for us, we have a great venue. However, on a whole, it's not even close.

Simple answer: much like the South in football, the Midwest and Northeast crank out basketball players because they grow up with the game from a young age.

ehhh..not hardly on this part. I'd still prefer Auburn quality basketball to anything football related. Suck or not suck....no sport is better

As someone else said, it's all coaching.

Talent in the south is plenty good enough.

Georgia could be a national power if they signed only the best players in the Atlanta area. Talent in that city is sick.
