Does anyone know the last time we had 16 verbal commits this early? It always seemed with fulmer we might have maybe 6 or 7 this early.

Phil was a good closer in his heyday. Not sure about the no. of commits he had. This time last year I don't think we had nearly this number

I think the SEC is on a roll right now getting commitments and keeping pace with each other. I also think all these early commits are coming partly because of the the signing restrictions for class size. Coaches are getting tired of all the hoopla on NSD and want to get it over with early.

I think they will be getting a couple or more commitments in the next few weeks. I think at least one C/O 2011 prospect could pull the trigger after Sept 1st.

I agree on Bray for sure. I think the staff feels very good about getting that one done in a few weeks.

I wonder when/if we get Cobbs we go after anymore WRs. I mean go after them as hard or would we concentrate on linemen? I know we wouldn't pass up a top notch prospect at WR if they were interested but I can see us concentrating on other spots.

If they get Cobbs... Prater would probably be the only receiver the staff continues to go after hard. If there is a really fast wr interested they may go after the wr hard too

Prater is committing on Sept. 2 (likely to USC). I don't think Cobbs will commit before then.

Wood commitment likely will not affect Prater IMO. I would love to have the kid but I don't think he lands in knoxville. I will take Cobb and be very happy with that.

Just noticed how many top receivers are coming out of Florida. It's ridiculous

Ivan McCartney
Chris Dunkley
Michaelee Harris
Joshua Reese
Quinton Dunbar
Kadron Boone
De'Joshua Johnson
Kenny Shaw
James Louis
Ted Meline
O.J. Ross

All are rated four star. Thought that was kind of interesting

I know. Just game my opinion.

USC has the perfect setup right now out there. They are a machine. They basically have the whole west coast plus always come east a get a couple studs every year. It is hard to believe they continue to pull stud after stud. Then turn around and do the same thing in the next class.

Out of that list I think Meline is there for the taking for Tennessee. He is very athletic and very talented. I think they may be waiting to see how is grade situation begins to shape up.

I've noticed that but I've also noticed the surprisingly large number of 4-5* prospects at WR all together...

There are only 2 5*'s but there are 45 4* prospects at that position...

That seems very high to me...are there normally that many highly rated players at one position?

You do see more skill postions that have high star ratings. These are high profile and get alot of attention not saying they don't deserve it. Most of the time the best atheletes on the high school teams are always at the skill spots. You see several every year that are highly rated that play a different position when they get to college.
