When Don't We All Wakeup and Face Reality

I dont...would be just what is needed!

I agree. Philip bleeds orange and will do what is needed to get these athletic programs back in the hunt. I just hope they don't wait too long to settle the issue. He will be a great athletics director.

So Holly just out coached Muffitt. She has been to 3 elite 8s (4 if you count the one she coached for Pat) and a sweet 16, I keep asking this question to the idiot Holly haters "who do you want that has better results to coach here? Obviously you all must think Geno would ever be offered or accept the position. Dawn Staley hasn't gotten better results, she did get to one final 4 so far, but her NCAA record is crap, and that really is all that matters how you finish. You want the cheater from Louisville? Mulkey hasn't done as well in the 4 years Holly has coached, we will see what she does this year, but we will also see what Holly does too. I think you all remember 8 seasons only in Lady Vol history. I can tell you that Pat was known as someone who couldn't win the big ones, she played in how many final 4 and championships before winning? Get a grip on reality people we have 7 players, and possibly an 8th. Our team is not capable of going undefeated, they will have some bad nights, someone will be sick or hurting every game. On the road teams that can stick around with us have a good chance of winning late. We have only been out of one game all season. We have 3 good players, and none of them are true guards, that is a fact. Then we have 3 guards that for some reason all have huge faults. We have players that let their offensive struggles get them out of their game on defense, and they stand around a lot on offense. That is effort that isn't something a coach with no options can coach. I am not going to call any of the players out, or coaches because like every single one of you, I don't know even a 10th of the story. Someone says we have no coach to coach bigs? What? Did Izzy come here as a superstar...no! Is Russell not playing solid this year and did she not own ND best player Turner? Was Nunn not recovering all last season with a broken leg, and didn't she play some wonderful ball tonight, and lately? Someone else posted most Lady Vol fans want Holly fired...no we don't...we want her to succeed and build on wins like tonight, only morons hope for their school to lose so someone (first player ever to have jersey retired) can be replaced, and the great recruits we have coming in would surely see some transfers.

Threads like these are why I rarely post anymore. The horse is dead, and I LOVE horses. A majority of VN want Warlick gone. Got it, thread number 5001. Btw if she lands DeCosta and Ododa along with Massengill and Collins, people will probably still want her fired.

As long as we don't miss the tournament, I'd say things have stabilized given the roster issues and the injuries in recent years. But folks who are angry won't let up until she wins the FF. Maybe not even then. We'll see. If UT can right itself and get to the postseason, I think things are moving forward. Here's hoping they can welcome Nelson-Ododa and DeCosta and Collins and Massengill. The future would be in great hands with that kind of lineup.

I just have to wonder how hard Muffet and Tara actually coached in "Pat's House." Neither of them seemed terribly committed or disturbed as their teams lost. I just wonder...

These conspiracy theories meant to bring Holly down are absurd and have to stop. If you're going to critique the program, use some real evidence.

Pat didn't have a stonger admirer tham CKM, but she beat Pat's team in what we all knew was the last game Pat would coach. Coaches can be friends, admirers, mentees/mentors. They still coach to win. Don't think playing in Pat's house affected either one of those two great coaches' efforts to win the games. If it did, they wouldn't be at the level they are.

Well, Muffet just lost to an unranked team. :eek:lol: She can't feel good about that. The NCAA seeding committee has historically treated these kinds of losses harshly when tournament time comes around.

The seeding committee doesn't really care about rankings. UT's RPI is still (somehow) solidly #15, so not really a bad loss for ND in the committee's eyes. Depending on what happens with other teams, it could be the loss that drops them from a #1 to a #2 seed, but tough to tell at this point.

It was an OBSERVATION, based on watching those two coaches in other games and over the years. That is all--not a conspiracy theory.

The tournament committee has their own secret ranking formula. But they care very much about "bad" losses when it comes to seeding.

But not a "good observation" is the point.

Why rain on the parade of one of the Lvs biggest wins in recent years.

Muffet was definitely engaged last night. The Lvs just outplayed her team and Holly made the right moves.

muffet was not expecting this game to be a lost she just knew they were going home with a win

She's a fool if she thought that. Tennessee's record may be sh!t, but they still have Deshields, Russell and Nared, which is a lot more than most other teams have.

They were coming off a surprise loss to NC State to boot. If she didn't have them fired up and ready, then that's her failure as a coach.

I think that ND expected a fight, but got outplayed by Tennessee in the 4th Q because Tennessee upped their game, especially on the defensive end.

If you look at the press conference. <Muffet did not think she was going to lose the game these are the same players from last year and she felt like she could coach them to a win.

Somebody actually "coached" in this game... And coaching won it.

-Timeouts used.
-Proper substitutions (Meme for Qui, when they took their big out too)
=Strategy at the end by using the two fouls-to-give to use up 5 of the nine seconds ND had to make a play. (This tactic won the game, IMO)

I give the staff props on this one.

And the LVs had the fouls to give because they played tight defense without fouling. It was an impressive showing.

I thought I saw the assistant coaches more actively talking to players, too.

UCONN has ruined the competitive landscape of women's college basketball. Their success has dulled the excitement levels when everyone other than UCONN is playing for 2nd.

Actually.. it's shows how crappy everyone else is

I sent him a note to say that very thing.
He was the one who suggested Meme going in, was VERY verbal about the fouls to give and several times high-fiving the girls during stoppages.

Well done Dean!

Great teams find a steady, unforgiving rhythm. An unrelenting rhythm with top use
of player talent. UT Ladies seem to be grasping for this and are moving closer all the
time.
