I just see it at one of those deals where the national perception could turn negative when top coach after top coach turns the job down for the obvious reason of not wanting to follow a legend, and especially after the way she was forced to leave the game.
Following John Wooden, UCLA ended up hiring Gene Bartow after one season at Illinois (a losing season at that). I'd hate to think we would be forced to settle for some unknown up-and-comer, or worse because no one wants to be the person to follow Summitt. I would rather stick it out with Warlick, at least for a couple seasons as a buffer, than be turned down by every coach worthy of the opportunity, and the potential negative implications that come attached with such rejection.
