When did this happen? If that's the case, why is Wheatgered acting like he's actually going to get in?

he has been saying he is getting in since last November. First sign on the kid was when he said he would be enrolling in December and didn't make that. he has missed every chance so far (3 of them). Has one last shot but seriously, he has to try in the classroom or go to class.

During the Orange Caravan, bUTch spoke of his situation, but he did it with out actually saying his name. He said that he would not qualify.

So, "No" he won't be on campus for this season.

We'll, I guess that's that!

The kid loves the attention and loves to jerk our chains. Nobody should ever question coach Doug Mathews again as he has said from day one this kid wouldn't make it. It sucks but this kid couldn't get it done.:hi:

I gave up on this kid along time ago. He needs to stop with the foolishness and enroll at Samuel f Austin.

I am glad we have Lavon Pearson but starting in 2015 I hope we stay clear of JUCO's. I hope we don't even pursue DJ Jones. I am imagine he would flip to Auburn last minute even if he qualified

UT must have raised its standards because I always thought that if Travis Henry could pass a few college classes, anybody could.

What could he do to change his status in the next month? It seems like at this point he either made the minimum required grades or he didn't.

Did you go to college? Summer session has two sessions. If he can't get into UT for second session, he can go somewhere else and meet the requirements.

Are you kidding? We lost both the entire OL and DL and have 15 seniors...the least in CFB. Not to mention nearly 50% of our team practiced with an SEC team for the first time. We need all the solid JUCOs we can get!

Use your seat belt bro...Darwin is after you.

Yes I went to the University of Tennessee and graduated from the college of business in the spring of 1996. Thanks for asking...My point was that practice obviously begins before the end of the 2nd summer session. If he has not qualified by now then he will not be on the team this fall.

I honestly think we should take 5-10 jucos a year. Most are instant impact players and they only use up scholarships for one to two years.

I don't think I would go that far. I believe hat JUCOs are valuable when you have a position where there is a instant need for talent and the position requires physical maturity and experience., or an extreme talent is available which would greatly improve our talent at a specific position, i.e. C Patterson. Otherwise, I would rather recruit and train the best high school players to better fit our system for a longer number of hers.

I would say 3-5 to address immediate needs but only until we have reestablished ourselves with talent and plenty of depth. After that we should just pursue the elite. As for Weatherd, if he is still struggling to meet eligibility requirements after two full years at JUCO then it makes you wonder if he could succeed at UT anyway. I like the academic progress that this program has made so far under Butch Jones. Weatherd is a red flag and would be cut no slack by our academic administration.

Some people went to college then spent summer(s) drunk/stoned riding wave-runners at Norris lake.. :whistling:

They have, especially now with the lottery scholarships the average student at UT has a significantly hire ACT/SAT score than in the past.

Ironical post about high enrollment testing scores and use of the word 'hire'.

Well done. :)

He is getting such a late start if he does make it, I would just like to see us give another kid a scholarship in the 2015 class. My guess is even if he does get in, he will not be able to stay in good standing even with our great academic help and tutoring.

The reason I like taking a large number of jucos is because 25 each year equals 100 before you even factor in redshirts.

If you take 5-10 jucos each year and redshirt most of your freshmen you can take a full 25 every year and will probably never have scholarship problems.
