Where are my ETSU vols at?

All of these turncoats probably pulled for the Bulls when Jordan was there, but now probably like the Lakers. Pull for the Cowboys or Patriots, and either the Red Sox or the Yankees. Meaning they just cheer for whatever team is winning and whatever team everyone else likes.

You sound like the lady that swipes cards at main meal during the mornings here at etsu. everytime i wear something ut i get a lecture about how bad i am and how i don't go to ut, that i go to etsu...blah blah blah....so now i wear even more ut stuff just to spite her!! hahahaha :dance2:
Penny is a good lady, I`m glad she's giving you grief.

I don't so much care about ETSU students that are Vol fans(thought I still don't like them), its the people who profess to be ETSU fans AND Tennessee fans.

That's just BS

Yeah, because Tennessee is the best team in college basketball.

I can assure you they aren't all the same person. Obviously we are outmanned but I hope we smack you guys in the teeth. And to all of you "ETSU Vols", if you love UT so much, why don't you just freaking transfer? Too scared to leave mommys house in Johnson City?

NCAAbbs - ETSU

Just having some fun. :neener2:

Had to laugh at this one.

This will be a fun game to watch. I hope ETSU can play well to keep it close. (at least for first half) I think Coach Bartow is a very good coach at least on ETSU's level. The wife works at ETSU and I usually make it to several games a year. Can't believe Hubbard is doing what he doing. Saying that Go Vols. I may be wrong I think Coach Pearl's first regular season game at UT was against ETSU.

I'm a Knoxville native, but went to ETSU and graduated in 06. I saw some of the best basketball in ETSU history and continue to follow them. I know several of their players and they have a pretty solid team this year, a bit surpising considering what they lost last year. I have always been a Tennessee fan in all sports, and they will always be my #1 team. But I don't think this has to be an either/or with UT and ETSU. They aren't even on the same level.

For me, watching the game tonight will be like watching your two kids compete against each other. You will cheer for both of them, hate to see one of them loose and love seeing the other win, but be proud of them both. I actually think ETSU needs this win more than UT because it would help them come selection time. With that said, Go Vols!

ETSU has a board?

+1.

I'm the same way. I've been in Knoxville since my sophomore year in HS. So IÂ’ve been a VOL since IÂ’ve been here (98'). BUT I went to PSTCC (a local Comm. College for those that don't know) for my AS and enrolled in a 2+2 program through ETSU. ETSU sent instructors from JC to PSTCC for my final 2 years of college. I never actually took a class at JC campus, mainly at PSTCC and online. Actually, the first time I stepped foot on campus was for my graduation. So I guess you could say my heart (which sucks) isn't it for ETSU BUT I hope they do well and going back to my OP, it'll be bitter sweet when either team wins tonight.

The ETSU Hall Monitor needs to get a grip. Most sports fans here in Johnson City are fans of both ETSU and UT. ETSU doesn't even have a football team, so we all bleed orange in the fall. However, during basketball season we follow both teams. When certain fans of both teams wish for a 1-point win by UT, it is simply because as a fan of both teams, many fans realize a loss by UT is much more damaging to than a loss by ETSU. UT actually has a chance to win a national title, so wins a losses greatly affect seedings in March Madness. No matter what ETSU does, they are destined for a 14-16 seed, so the win means little in the long run. Even if ETSU wins, they are only going to the March Madness if they win their conference tournament. This philosophy certainly doesn't mean anyone is a traitor, just hoping for the best result for both teams. Go Bucs and Vols... hope it's a great game. I will be very proud is ETSU wins.

Having gone to both schools two years, I always have mixed feelings when they play. I believe this gives me the right to cheer for either team, and not be a traitor.

I know how big it would be for ETSU to win, but I find myself wanting UT to win. Should the Bucs win, I still can find satisfaction in appreciating the importance it would have.

A win means very little in the long run? Ummmm ok.

ETSU could recruit off a Tennessee win for 3 years, we could push for a facilities upgrade, have a better home schedule(instead of having to go on the road for every meaningful game), build excitement and fund raising, and potentially move from the horrid A-Sun conference.

BTW, the difference between a #16 seed and a #12-14 seed is HUGE . A #16 seed all but guarantees a loss, a #12-14 seed does not. A #4 seed instead of a #1 or #2 seed does not prevent Tennessee from accomplishing any of their goals. A #16 seed guarantees that ETSU won't accomplish any of ours.

I am of the firm belief that without a #16 seed ETSU would have advanced beyond the 1st of the NCAA last season.

You could have made that statement a number of years past.

Those teams of the past years didn't have to face a #1 seed(short of the 89 team).

Going toe to toe with a #1 seed is a completely different animal.

They faced #2 seeds which still holds true with your original statement. Not too many #15 seeds advance.

Did the win over Arizona in the '91 tournament mean anything with recruiting? Not really. We always grab players with potential, but flaws. Luckily, we have grabbed several freshman and transfers over the years which blossomed into major conference talent. ETSU has a knack for finding diamonds in the rough, and we will continue to do so with Bartow in charge. I am very impressed with Hubbard and Tubbs this year. Come March, this team could upset somebody in the tournament. I believe the key to a major March upset is Issiah Brown, he must become a force inside to open it up for the playmakers. He could become a force.

As for this game? I know UT fans won't understand, but UT dodged a major bullet. The ONLY reason ETSU did not win this game was due to the injury of Mike Smith. Smith is our best player, but this was his first game of the year due to injury. If UT fans knew anything about ETSU, they would know that Smith is a clutch shooter, especially in big games. Tonight, due do his long absence, Mike was leaving every shot on the front of the rim. Believe me when I say that ETSU left at least 9points on the floor due to Smith missing his 5 three-point attempts. If you don't believe me... ask #1 seed Pittsburgh about Mike Smith. Consider yourselves lucky. I didn't expect the game to be this close, but since it was, I can easily say that UT is extremely lucky that Mike Smith was rusty.

For the record... even as an avid UT fan... I found myself routing for ETSU. The power of a hometown team is strong. Now that it is over... I hope both teams go undefeated the rest of the year. LOL

Considering the fact that I was 5 years old in 1991 I have no idea how recruiting went. A lot has changed since 1991, both in recruiting and the way sports is covered. In 91 there was no Youtube, no Rivals, no Scout, no online streaming of games.

Here's what I know, beating a bunch of A-Sun scrubs garners ZERO attention with recruits.
