It seems that we've made some progress since the first two losses. We had some decent numbers today--out-rebounded Gonzaga, shot
a higher percentage, fewer turnovers, shot very well from the FT line--and yet we still lost! Had two turnovers in the last 1.5 minute of the game--you can't have that.
I think fans overestimate our overall talent. We've got 2 talented offensive players in Jackson and Horston, though both can be inconsistent and I'm not sure whether either of them would be described as a good 1v1 defender (thoughts on that?). Powell is a solid/good PG.
And after those three? After those three it's a somewhat mixed bag--players who have certain attributes and certain deficiencies. And I think that's a big issue: We don't have enough solid all-around players--players who can do good things on both ends of the floor. We have bigs who aren't athletic enough, guards who are small, shooters who may lack quickness. This, along with our lack of cohesiveness and chemistry, is a thing. But we should continue to get better--if Harper coaches with a bit more of an iron fist, meaning takes a hard line on players who consistently make mistakes, don't play fundamentally--and generally holds players to a higher standard.
