Where do we go from here?

It seems that we've made some progress since the first two losses. We had some decent numbers today--out-rebounded Gonzaga, shot
a higher percentage, fewer turnovers, shot very well from the FT line--and yet we still lost! Had two turnovers in the last 1.5 minute of the game--you can't have that.

I think fans overestimate our overall talent. We've got 2 talented offensive players in Jackson and Horston, though both can be inconsistent and I'm not sure whether either of them would be described as a good 1v1 defender (thoughts on that?). Powell is a solid/good PG.

And after those three? After those three it's a somewhat mixed bag--players who have certain attributes and certain deficiencies. And I think that's a big issue: We don't have enough solid all-around players--players who can do good things on both ends of the floor. We have bigs who aren't athletic enough, guards who are small, shooters who may lack quickness. This, along with our lack of cohesiveness and chemistry, is a thing. But we should continue to get better--if Harper coaches with a bit more of an iron fist, meaning takes a hard line on players who consistently make mistakes, don't play fundamentally--and generally holds players to a higher standard.

At this point, I think this team has 2 major problems that compound into all the other problems:
1. The team has no identity and each player does not know their defined role.
2. Too many players are getting minutes, and there are costly stretches of incohesion.

CKH can keep screwing with the lineups through 11/30 (2 more games). After that, we HAVE to tighten it down starting with the VT game. Here are the players I would play, and the minutes I would play them.

Powell…30
Horston…33
Jackson…33
Darby…22
Franklin…30
Key…20
Puckett…18
Hollingshead…14

Notes:
When Powell is out, Horston runs the point.
When Darby is out, Puckett is in.
Either Jackson or Horston is in the game at all times.
We need this to be a cohesive 8 man lineup. The 12 man rotation ain't working.

Darby and Puckett have one job - the corner 3 on offense.
Powell runs the offense.
Offense creates space for Horston or Jackson.
If Jackson or Horston get doubled, then Franklin/Key or Darby/Puckett are going to be unguarded.
…and you’ve been coaching how long?

In Kellie’s presser she said some action had been taken that precluded her from getting the ball at mid court in the last possession. She would have had to use her last time out to get the ball to mid court and wanted to hang onto it if she needed it at around 5 sec.
Does anyone know what action would remove the mid court option?

Lucy, she kept the last time out just in case her player got trapped and had to call a timeout to prevent a turnover....That way we could still get a shot off...It was a gamble on her part that did not go in her favor...

Hindsight is call the timeout and advance the ball and don't worry about being trapped...

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I’m preparing to feed a small army and I STILL can not make dressing as good as my mother’s!🤣

The one thing I wanted to see, I saw. Tennessee played better, and the team was visibly hurt by this defeat. The fact that they were so emotionally distraught shows that this team is still bought in, they want to win, and they care. Having said that, I think a player has to step up to become the vocal leader (probably Jordan) of the team. During the past two post game presser's both Maria and Caroline Peck asked about it. I know, Jordan may be that quiet leader, but she has to be more vocal on the court holding teammates accountable, nobody else has her level of respect on the team. I also think that Coach Harper needs to channel her inner Pat Summitt and get into some of these players grill. I hear it, she might lose some players. Look, if a player can not handle a little heat, they (coaches) probably need to reevaluate who you really have. It is still too early, especially with 10 new pieces on the team, to panic. Go Lady Vols.

1) Lose the bold font. Your posts are no more important than anyone else’s on this board. I do appreciate your perspective.

2) I think she is waiting to pull “her” perceived leaders aside to give them marching instructions…

3) Paragraphs are your friend….

It's truly unbelievable that on November 21st, fans are already trying to count wins on the schedule to be sure the team even makes the tournament...

Lucy I have cooked a turkey a couple times....I bought the already prepared dressing...It was very good each time...I've got my Hungry Man Turkey TV dinner all ready to pop in the microwave...So simple.

My niece is trying to get me to come to their house, but I'd rather be with my dogs....I know that sounds terrible, but my dogs are always so happy to be with me, and me with them....I miss them when I'm not with them...

I also have an orange tabby cat that I rescued too...He is wonderful.....Sometimes the cat gets to chasing the dogs through my house....Talk about joy to the world....They really have fun with each other...

I thought the girls looked much better today....It was a good loss.

I’ll admit, I checked the next three game stretch. Building chemistry, check. Competitive, check. Would really suck if Kellie pulled a Pat out of her behind, eh?

You need to go to a game so you can see all the action not just the little tv screen. Tess smothers her person, had a steal and several deflections today.
