Where Does Steve Smith Rank All-Time among WRs?

No way he's better than TO, CJ or Irvin. Give me an elite CJ for 9 years any day of the week. Hate him or not TO was a beast.

I think approach to the game was similar to AI, personality-wise not so much.

I'm not saying better talent than CJ or Irvin, but I am saying better career. Irvin is hard to judge because he was on a run first team. TO played with a bunch of pro bowl QBs and was a dominant force but had average hands. Put him with Delhomme, Clausen, Carr, Moore, and an ancient Testaverde, and nobody is making this argument.

Will you use your magic crystal ball to tell me who I should play on Draftkings tomorrow? TIA

The Steve Smith football life is on tomorrow at 8:30 on NFL Network

Also Smith played in 213 games, Testeverde(6), Carr-(4), Clausen(10) and Moore(13)started a grand total of 33 games with him. So just stop naming those guys like Smith was saddled with them for seasons and seasons.

...and an old-ass Rodney Peete (15), and Chris Weinke (19), and three other guys (3) i've never heard of.

It all adds up to a **** show of QBs any way you wanna slice it. Yeah he's had Flacco a few seasons but he's 37. Those dudes wasted his prime.

The season Weinke started 14 games was Smiths rookie year and was barley playing and had 10 catches on 20 targets. Lol WTF?

Peete was his second year and started 14 and Smith wasn't even the number one option yet.

Smith didn't have the greatest QBs I agree to that, but naming randoms that he barely even played with is silly. Almost every WR in the history of the NFL has had random guys start games that they played in.

You and I aren't comparing him to every WR, we are comparing him to TO, no?

I'll retract my list of every QB that Smith played with and just leave it at this....TO's 4th best QB was Jeff Garcia and JG was better than Delhome.

Fun fact, Delhomme's threw for his personal best in yards and TDs the year Smith was injured. Garcia sucks.

My problem isn't with you saying Smith had lesser QBs, he obviously did. My problem is implying TO wouldn't have been as good with those same QBs, when we have zero proof of that to be true. The only thing we have is a 36 year old TO getting 830 yards with Fitz, Edwards, and Brian Brohm his second to last year. That's pretty ****ing impressive.

Well yeah, they were 7-9. Their D was weak and JD was playing from behind and threw 83 more times than any other season.

How can you think think that TO would be just as good with less QB luck? Seems like an impossibility. Is that what you are saying? Dude had trouble catching the ball with good QBs.

However, I wonder how accurate that is. I just remember him leading the league in drops a few times and also making bad drops, but drops stats are not readily available and maybe his catch % wasn't that bad.

All we have to semi compare is Smiths first 2 years with Cam being similar to TOs with Garcia. And TOs year in Buffalo being pretty productive at age 36. Do I think TO would have had 5 1000+ yard years, and 1 double digit TD year with Delhomme? Absolutely.

TO didnt have the best hands and seemed to drop a lot of passes cause he lacked concentration and was looking to turn up field before he caught it. Maybe a QB throwing him passes not in stride would have helped. Lol

Problem is, you think he wouldn't be any good with those QBs, I do, and there is no way of proving it either way.

My issue was with you saying put TO with those guys and nobody is making an argument for TO. Like he was mediocre and QBs made him great. I mean he might kill your QB, and Smith might sucker punch a teammate, but TO was a beast on the field.

I didn't say that. I don't think that. He's likely still top 10 with Delhomme.

Marvin Harrison had the best QB luck of anybody on that list and even he's top 10 no matter who he played with, IMO.

I took you saying "nobody would be making an argument for TO" as him not being top 10 with Delhomme.

Marvin Harrison can eat a bag of **** covered ****s.

Smitty had it all. Hands, run after catch ability, athleticism and strength. If he played with better QBs (Love Delhomme, but he was all heart. His passing talent was not great) he'd be a shoe-in for the HOF. I don't know how he can't be considered top 10.

Sorry, what I meant was TO vs Steve Smith....most people would say TO, but I don't think they would if they switched QBs.

All the guys on my list are qualified by who they played with, so TO and Rice and Harrison are all somewhat "penalized" for having very good QB luck. TO landed at 8th after that downgrade.

I would have loved to see what he'd do with a real burner on the other side of the field in a great offense. Put him on the 2007 Pats team in place of Welker or Stallworth. That would be crazy.
