Where is the blame on the OC?

The defense was on the field entirely too long. The offense rarely took the deep shots they normally do. Golesh is gone but there was supposed to be "continuity." Instead it was a terrible showing by the offense and the defense paid the price. Milton is partially to blame but what about the OC and that play calling?

It's called not trusting Milton and the Receiver's. Milton especially!

The play calling was absolutely pathetic, if all we can do with the passing game is baby slants, then we are in big trouble this year.

To a point, I'll agree that our offensive woes contributed to the defense, but you can't excuse away the pathetic tackling by blaming our offensive failures. That's a fundamental part of football. Something Hadden has never heard of or even imagined. We played like dog doo doo all around....except special teams. They actually didn't do so bad.
I had a disastrous special teams play on my scratch card for the game

But Banks was described as an aggressive DC not a bend but don't break kind of guy. I've seen very little "aggression" from the defense so far.
Before last week, we were top in TFL and sacks. That’s pretty aggressive. Can’t do that against the two step drop FL ran.

What play would you call if the DL knocks your center and guards around like toys? Kind of hard to throw deep with our OL. We took shots whenever they gave us single man on either outside receiver.

Yep. That pretty much sums it up. They whipped us in the trenches.

That’s what bothers me most defensively in the first half is us playing soft coverage when Florida was almost no threat to go deep often at all. We played soft weak marshmallow defense instead of playing the run and coming after them. In the second half we stopped them much better. But on offense while we got our running game going we didn’t take enough deep shots. We got mugged on one long throw but we should have kept going long some and stayed on refs about our receivers getting held. It’s easy to block when you are allowed to hold like Florida. Number 58 for Florida was beat by Baron a few times and just grabbed him and no call. There db’s constantly grab but you have to keep going after them and demand that they call interference.

What was the play call on the 2 point conversion attempt? I miss Princeton Fant. There was nothing that indicated a well coached Vols team. They did compete harder in the second half but UF was messing around protecting the lead and inept offense continued even in the red zone. There needs to be a players meeting to determine who wants to play SEC football.

You didn't notice Heupel calling plays?

Why don't they 'trust' Milton to throw downfield? I've read this several times and it makes no sense. Both our touchdowns involved long passes.

Maybe it's the receivers that aren't getting open? They haven't shown a whole lot in terms of catching a ball that hits them in the hands so far. Are they getting open? Why not? That ain't on Milton. Maybe he's running for his life because of a porous O line and doesn't have time to wait for the receivers to make a play. And where the hell were the slants last night? They are at least past the LOS.
Not sure why they do or don’t trust him, but that’s the only reasonable explanation for the play calling we have seen so far.
