Yes, Gray and Diamond played together their freshman year at UNC. Gray transferred a year after DD transferred to UT.

Her dad allegedly went after LaChina Robinson on twitter earlier in the year it was in preseason to be specific. I heard it from Gamecock fans. They are quoted as saying:

"Someone (i think a random fan) noted to her that Kaela was not on any pre-season All-SEC teams. She then referenced Kaela's defense, & career shooting percentage. This is where it gets interesting, Kaela's mom and dad tweet back at her and basically take a dig at LaChina: "All love Lachina, I think some analysts are better than others! Not personal either!"-Antonio Davis

I was never able to confirm the tweet (I'm not good with twitter) but I can't imagine Gamecock fans would lie about their own players families being difficult.

I heard about this back in November so If anyone knows how to find these types of things you are welcome to try and confirm the tweet.

If he was going to take the dig at Lachina Robinson (who I think is a good analyst) he needed to use THAN not THEN ... you typed the grammatically correct word he did not per cached version. Yes, some analyst are better THAN others. Just like the majority of the analyst were better THAN him!

LaChina's podcasts are amazing if you are a WCBB fan. She is also really good in studio for the SECN. Actually I can't really remember a time when I heard her on air or tv that she didn't do a great job. I don't know it's all kind of odd to me. I completely understand why some teams abstain from social media for the season... situations just like this. How awkward it must be for the player, my goodness.

Kaela's mom is a nut case who wants her child to be the brightest star of them all. Diamond was truly a diamond last night and showed why she has the better game. What is really telling is that sc had cuevas in instead of her. Dawn probably did not play kaela in the crunch moments bc DD was killing her off the dribble. Kaela is a good offensive player but she can not create like DD.
I think everyone can agree that the davis family is a tad sensitive. & also i think allisha gray has been a better player for sc anyway. i hope dawn sits her more often so we can sit back and watch Ms Kendra ***** and make a fool out of herself.

Also I did some diggin on twitter and found an interesting conversation between Kendra and Kenny Kallina(wbb travel coach):
Kenny Kallina:"Someone in Georgia might know this....has Kaela Davis ever beat Diamond Deshields head to head?"
Kendra Davis replies:"has she ever lost to her b4 tonight u mean? She beat her at Tech when she was at UNC. DD ended up on ICE after she lost to em."
Any jealousy you think????

Very jealous. We surely dodged a bullet. I'm so glad she changed her mind because her mom is a nut case. Especially when she compared Diamond's stats and her daughter's with a caption about 'when your coach believes in you.' OMG I'm glad she's not my mom. So embarrassing. Your daughter is grown woman...have a seat. And the nerve of Antonio to ever talk about my LaChina like that. Not only is she a great analyst, but he is one of the worst. I'd rather listen to Isaiah Thomas, Bill Walton, Reggie Miller and the Clear Eyes guy than Antonio Davis. And then the grammatical error. LMBO. SO GLAD that family is in our rear view.

So Grey couldn't come to TN because she was blocked from doing it by her former coach, but DD was not blocked? Was that because the year DD left Sylvia was out, and when she came back she blocked Grey?

I tell you, so many twists and turns. Like these players are on "Days of Our Lives."

Well, it seems like Gray is doing well at SC. Good for her! We could have used her, of course.

Someone needs to talk to these kids at the high school level, and tell them to CHOOSE WISELY and make it THEIR CHOICE. Transferring in general isn't a great idea, and when it adds in changing teams as well as curricula, it becomes even harder.

Didn't she cancel a game with us after DD came? We were expected to have a good team and.... Pretty classless move on her part I thought. Fine to not renew a series, but she canceled a game just before the season. UT had to scramble to get a team to replace that game and obviously all the good teams weren't available that late.

Also I think DD got out before the academic scandal hit N Car. Then a lot of the NCWBB players transferred; one even gave as the reason was she wanted her degree to be respected and she feared the academic issues would reflect on her. By that time SH probably felt like she was in a shooting gallery...on the wrong end. Also I think she tried to claim Holly had approached DD or something like that. And again I think that charge was shown to be pretty much sour grapes on her part.

Someone on here may know Recruiting 401; I'm just at 101:).

I saw that on Kendra's Twitter. What a lack of class and how embarrassing for Kaela. All I know is...DD rendered Kendra's daughter irrelevant last Monday night....it was beautiful to watch. Diamond was NOT going to be denied!

In the post game presser when Diamond was asked about her former teammates, she completely took the high road and said something like, "Look, those are my childhood friends and I am happy for them to be where they are and playing at the level they are. I wish them only the best."

Shining bright like a Diamond on and off the court. Love that girl! 💙💎🍊🏀✨
