Anytime a player publicly speaks out against the coaching staff, no matter how bad they are, there’s a problem. That’s not how you go about things. I think it was handled appropriately and it made him who he is today

Jauan's rap video probably was kinda stupid, but he was just blowing off steam.
I'm glad he got a second chance.

I'm not sure JJ would be where he is today if Hoke hasn't dismissed him. The story supposedly goes:

After dislocating his wrist against Ga Tech he disappeared. He didn't come to the facility to rehab, he didn't participate in any team activities and was AWOL.

A teammate was sent to find him and supposedly finally found him somewhere stoned.

He was absent so long, his locker was cleaned and everyone believed he had quit the team.

He then shows up Vandy week and demands to play quarterback. This led to the tirade he posted online. He wasn't dismissed because of the video, the video was the last straw.

Fast forward later...he apologized to everyone in the AD, asking to earn a path back to the team. He apologized to the entire team without any coaches present.

Unable to participate in team drills the next spring due to a knee issue, he worked out along side the team at practice. He hit a tire with a sledge hammer, used battle ropes, etc.

He worked with younger receivers and talked about how to make cuts, get separation etc.

He even helped the team mangers carry water bottles to the other players.

When he came back, he was described as the perfect teammate and player. He wanted to excel in every facet of the game and (in my opinion) his commitment to blocking to support the run game is what may have gotten him into the NFL.

As I'm wont to be, I was in his corner from start to finish. I detest negaVols and canniVols. Always have, too self-righteous and judgmental. Too quick to condemn, sometimes despite facts.

If JJ had played with CJH I don’t think would’ve ever been allowed to leave the field. He does everything that this group wants all the time .

I'm old, but I wasn't aware there were JJ haters. I love the dude and how he plays. I think a lot of us felt what he was feeling in regards to Butch Jones at the time. Dude's a winner and he got frustrated playing for that loser Jones.
