Where was Sampson

It’s a valid concern. Whenever there are two guys ahead of a player, the portal has to be tempting. I hope he stays, but players now think they can leave and be a starter next week.

UT only had 66 offensive plays.

There's also a good chance that they had to prepare Sampson a a slot receiver for this game.

All the drives he got subbed into throughout the season, IMO, Seemed pretty focused on him and put him in spots where he didn’t have to pass block.

I think the staff knew, with Clemson getting a month to prepare, they’d exploit him being on the field.

He is a good back, but many freshman struggle with pass blocking

Maybe with Clemson's strength being DL and pass rush they kept Small in a lot more and didn't risk it with Sampson.

Next year he will be a much better pass blocker and get many more snaps.

In the bowl game? I would have thought throwing swing passes to him out of the backfield would have improved our running game up the middle.

he is number 3 on depth chart. Offense only ran 66 plays so they didn't need to go that deep in depth
