Sampson is our most talented back. Good hands, great moves and faster than Small and Wright. He did better with blocking assignments last half of the year. He should’ve seen action in the OB more than just returning kicks, imo. I truly hope he’s not thinking about the portal.

Jaylen Wright has made huge improvements this year from last! Even over the course of the season the guy was getting better.
He seems looser in the hips then last year, more shifty in the hole, and his burst looks like it’s gotten faster too. That’s from last year, this year he was struggling fumbling, but got that squared away. He should be number 1 next year IMO

There have been several on this board that have proclaimed him to be elite. Guess we'll see in spring practice..

Straight line speed Wright is supposed to be our fastest RB. It was even mentioned in the broadcast the other night.

Now that he’s got his fumbling issues under control, Wright looks like a top level SEC back when he gets going. Sampson is talented, and Small is dependable, but Wright has the speed and runs with authority. I don’t see Sampson passing him on the depth chart.

I don’t think it’s even a matter of passing anyone on the depth chart. Just having this rotation of three dependable backs is huge for us. I do think Sampson is quicker as far as moves go and once he gets in the open field, few are going to catch him either. I did think Wright should have been the starter this season, but I get the ball control issues. He sure seems fixed now, though.

I almost started this same thread. I too wondered why he wasnt more involved in the offensive game plan.

Often they can. If they get recruited out of the portal it's great chance they're playing. If they enter the portal and their phone doesn't ring that's another story entirely.

Wright is going to be very good next year. We will be fine at running back next year. I will be curious too see how Seldon fits, whether at RB or WR or possibly both. GBO
