Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney will be in California to evaluate Matt Simms, the former Louisville quarterback, who is playing at El Camino Community College.

Quarterbacks coach David Reaves will be in Texas to evaluate Cam Newton, the former Florida quarterback who is playing at Blinn Community College.
Per GVX.

i'm curious, so here's a question i will ask.

chaney to see simms.....reaves to see newton.

could either coach go to either player, or does anyone have any reason to think one coaches opinion/evaluation hold more weight? i mean reaves is the QB coach...chaney OC/OL coach who had brees...

maybe there is nothing to it, just tryin to spark some convo while we wait on the next commit.

hopefully my question makes sense.

I think it's mostly irrelevant as they'll both be carrying the digital camcorders so that Ed O and the Kiffster can compare them. Just my opinion though.

I would absolutely listen to Chaney over Reaves (but not sure it means anything)

It makes sense. I thought about it too. You send the guy you trust the most to the prospect you are the most interested in maybe. Could be nothing, but I would think Kiffin values Chaney's opinion more than Reaves. Just something to consider.

I agree. I think that Sims is the stronger possibility right now.
